This show feels so different now..

Rewinding back to when the show actually first started it was way diff imo. Loved it back then. The omfg moments, the promotions, the characters, the fandom, and the good SLs.
Now i feel like the show is sinking. The SLs suck, almost everyone in the cast has talked about the disinterest they have in the show, the random addition of cast/guests are not making anything work.
Agree or disagree?
And lol at the fact how serena used to be my fave character but now I really dislike her.

I totally agree, like when I watch the show now it's just different. I usually just get really agitated or annoyed and I really couldn't give a shit about most of the storylines unlike before when I'd be watching waiting to see what would happen next and excited about new episodes. Seriously during this whole hiatus I havent missed GG one bit, I really dont give a fuck about this show anymore (except for Dair). They need to stop with guest stars and focus on the main characters, if they did that maybe the actors wouldn't be so uninvested in it. And they REALLY need to bring Jenny back, she is my favorite character and I think we can all agree that GG sucks without her.

definitely agree.
the whole vibe of the show is different now.
in s1, there was the whole 6 souls thing, and the show felt kinda dark for something that was meant to be about privileged teens. there was real character development, and there were such amazing episodes where it wasn't really about relationships at all. the storylines were amazing, and the actors were amazing.
i think everyone's just over it now.
ugh i have an urge to go rewatch s1

The show was different. I can rewatch season 1 several times and love basically every minute of it. But somewhere in season 2 (Bart's death to be precise) they changed the direction from sharp and relevant writing to soap opera type stories.

I think the vibe you all are picking up on is that in season one the story was character-driven. Unfortunately, since the end of season one the story is now plot-driven and that type of storytelling has never been appealing or interesting to anyone.

ita. it's depressing when you think of how great and interesting the storylines used to be. now the shows basically become a joke.

Random: But if Katie Cassidy was a regular now that would have been interesting. Love her.

yes a lot has changed about the show. it's not 2007 anymore. the characters are out of high school. things have evolved. it's not the 'It' show anymore because the producders are focusing less on their witty promotions and thr glam factor that pulled a lot of people in at first. now it's more about the storytelling which is fine because i am more interested in the characters than all the play on pop culture and whatnot.
i do miss Blair's curls and her colored tights and headbands and her eating yogurt on thr stepls and being the Queen Bitch. but i think everything that has happened over the years were good develoopment for the show. i still love watching it and i think the storytelling albeit inconsistent and frustrating for us fans at time has been true to essentially beign a drama.
yes the show has changed.maybe it could be better. yes the writing has worsened. i can't fathom that at one point Dan was one of my favorite characters even more than Chuck. but i think overall the show has been a good show.

The show is definetly different. Season 1 was the best.
