Trying to get our head around things

   After watching 6x04, I honestly felt that I had watched the worst episode of Gossip Girl of all time. I couldn't believe the holes that the writers were digging for a 10 episode season. We can all agree that Stevena sucks as a relationship and yet we are almost half way finished and they are still together. We're supposed to believe that Derena will end up MARRIED after that conversation and how Dan gave Blair that puppy dog look. Nate and Sage are awful too. The Chubart storyline hasn't moved fast enough as well, with the secrets still not being huge enough. Then I realised what the writers were doing. If you've watched Gossip Girl from the beginning, you will know as well as I do that you can't expect things to be sorted out neatly and properly through discussion or a slow buildup. The way this show functions is through drama and scandal. So when we see this massive whole that has been dug when it comes to Derena, we have to anticipate that the sex tape is somehow the way they are brought together. There is no slowly becoming friends again and then developing into more. It's just action and huge events that change the course of the storyline. This is how Chuck and Blair have been surviving as a couple on Gossip Girl and why Dair haven't. Once the shock of Dan and Blair getting together despite the Blairena friendship and Chair love wore off, you just had a couple steadily dating without any real drama or scandal or even the right "sexy-factor". It doesn't work that way on Gossip Girl. You have to have soap opera material and that's what Derena and Chair have. But enough about romantic relationships. We can also take Chuck and Barts relationship as an example. Their hole has been properly dug and they're never going to talk it out or be okay again. In 6x04, we're seeing that Bart is really just a cold monster instead of a misunderstanding father. I doubt he even loves Lily or Chuck at this point. So when he does some insane things in the next few episodes its going to make sense. There will be no talking it out between family. It's one way or another and Bart's evil scandals and secrets are going to push him and Chuck away completely. It's also going to speed up that plot once and for all. Basically, what I'm trying to say is that it seems the first 4 episodes have been slow because the rest of the season is going to be bang bang bang. Scandal scandal scandal. Conclusion conclusion conclusion. And it's going to make sense. These events will be huge enough to change everyone's direction and throw a wrench into the already existing plots. And honestly, if you think like I do, these big events are the best thing about the show and will probably give us what we want for our characters in a GG style way for the finale season.

   WW I've felt this way about GG for a long time. I'm ready for this horrible show to end...I really wish it had remained awesome, but after s2, and especially after season 4, it's been a different show. :(

    

   but hopefully 6x09 & 6x10 will be enjoyable?
