Vanderbasses or Vanderhumphries?
-
Hey guys I was bored so I thought I'd post a question.
Which sibling relationship do you prefer:
1)Chuck + Serena + Eric
2)Jenny + Dan +Serena + Eric
Judging from the season three spoilers and the last few episodes of season two it seems the writiers are more foccused on the vaderhumphries.
What with the spoilers saying dan and serena will become close brothers and sisters and all the earlier set photos of eric jenny dan and serena together. Also If you noticed in the last few episodes of season two with Rufus and Lilly there was always family scenes with out Chuck, like with the brunch when rufus wants to propose to lilly and he has to get serena and eric permissions, he didn't even acknowledge that chuck was a part of the family.
Personally I prefer the vanderbasses. I love the teasing love hate siblingness of cuck and serena and of course the chuck eric bonding and how eric looks up to him. It suck how after Chuck move back home in 2.16 there wasn't a single chuck eric scene.
Judging by the promos and spoilers and the "serena fashion promo" I have a feeling they are going to cast chuck aside to concentrate on the vanderhumphreis. This makes me feel sad for chuck because I feel that the only thing chuck wants more than blair is to be a part of a family. KEEP THE VANDERBASSES!
What do you guys think?

Totally, I was such a Lily + Bart shipper because they were so cute when they were happy, and then maybe if things went a little further then, chuck would have his first blood related sibling, awww that'd be too cute. But the writers ruthlessly killed off Bart and now Lily barely talks to Chuck

I prefer Chuck, Serena and Eric as siblings, but I still don't feel like we have to choose. I believe that they can all be family.
I know that Chuck hasn't really been so much with the others, but that's probably because he's not used to being around the Humphrey's in that way. He was even a little left out before Bart died, since he always seemed to prefer the others over Chuck.
And we did get a good scene in 2x20 when they were in the kitchen and Chuck, Eric and Dan were talking about how their lives was like a reality show (which is my favorite scene in the entire episode).
And in season 3 we know he's gonna have scenes with them, since he is going to Rufus and Lilys wedding, and then there's also the pics of him and Jenny hanging out.
But I understand how you feel. We didn't get enough family scene last season, which I hope we will get this season.

I prefer Chuck, Serena and eric too. I still think it's weird that Serena and Dan are going to be siblings.

Well I hope there'll be a Van der Bass vs Van der Humphrey competition of some sort. You bring up a good question and they should tackle it this season, not just have them group together in different permutations, like what we saw with Chuck-Jenny for example. Of course Van der Bass would be at a disadvantage considering Bart's dead and Chuck's an only child, and he promised to get out of the way once they move in.
I'm leaning slightly towards Van der Bass only because they've had really fun scenes in the past, while Van der Humphrey scenes have been lacking and were too drama-filled. I'll be fair by saying the Van der Humphreys have some catching up to do, and I look forward to that and then I can reevaluate. :D
Either way, I want more VDBH.
Random: Have Dan and Eric bonded before? I don't remember. I wanna see that. Then Chuck and Dan could do a tug of war over Eric, and custody of him will be decided by who can up up with the wittiest insult against the other. HAH.

I personally LOVE The Van der Basses . I was rewatching some episodes in season one, (Like 1x15 to 1x17) and the Chuck/Serena and Eric/Chuck is so cute . We need more of that in season threee .
But I totally agreed with Poptart, how cute would it have been if Lily/Bart had a baby and Chuck had a brother/sister ! That would have been adorable .
Hahaha, and like Don't Mock The Suspenders said, I'd love to see Dan and Chuck battle it out for Eric . Team Chuck all the way .
But then again, what's wrong with the Van der Bass - Phrey's ?

I think Chuck Serena and Eric will always be like siblings..remember in The Wrath Of Con when Serena got arrested,Blair rang Chuck because "hes her brother".

I love the van der Basses. .. Actually, I like a mix between the two.
Jenny / Eric / Chuck / Serena = epic siblings.
Mainly because of Chuck apologizing to Jenny in 2x21. That scene was well-acted on both ends, and it really brought back some of the tension between the two. Taylor, I think, did especially well in this. Her facial expressions were spot-on. (Haha, I'm watching it again right now...) Anyway, now that the stuff is behind them, it also brings their sibling foursome to a little bit of tension. I think that's good in a show like GG.
I love the Serena/Chuck sibling dynamic, hands down. They are the perfect twist of hatred and sibling love, which is absolutely awesome. Like said above ^^, Blair called Chuck to help bail Serena out of jail because, in all rights, Chuck and Serena were siblings. Now that Chair is a full couple (squee!), Chuck won't be doing his hitting-on-Serena business, so that sibling relationship won't ever be more than that. I also love that Serena is the only girl Chuck never had sex with.
The Serena/Eric dynamic, albeit it's blood-related, is my favorite sibling dynamic in the entire show. I love the way Serena never, ever judges Eric - when Georgina outed Eric in 1x16, Serena made it obvious that she already knew - her facial expression said it all. I love that, also, Serena goes to Eric for help, rather than, usually, Blair. Eric is always there for her and Serena never judges him, and that dynamic in itself is so welcome from all the usual sibling hatred (like in my family).
Another favorite sibling relationship is Eric/Jenny. I love the way they interact - Jenny, a little bit of a bossy-boots, and Eric, a tiny bit of a push-over. The way she always busted in on his dates with Jonathan made me laugh, because while they are so obviously best friends, there was also that very real tension in there like with normal brothers/sisters. It's not just in season two, either, that made me love the Jenny/Eric dynamic - it was also in the first season. Remember when they were freaking out over Lily/Rufus, wondering if they were related? I love that scene!
Eric/Chuck. Ohhhh, Eric/Chuck. I love them together. In the first season, I was glad to see that Chuck was happy to have Eric as a little brother. Although Serena was disgusted, I was elated - they were so awesome together. Eric was like a mini-Chuck. xD And in the second season, when Chuck's dad died - oh my God, that was brilliant acting on both Connor's and Ed's part. Eric's words, "I don't want to lose my big brother, too," were heartbreaking. And in the end when they reconciled - perfect. Utterly perfect.
We don't see much of Jenny/Serena bonding, 'cept for a few scenes in season two, and that one scene in 1x06 where Jenny reassures Serena that Vanessa was 'just a friend' to Dan. That scene was so cute, too, the way they switch clothings - I think, with more scenes of Serena and Jenny, I would love those siblings just as well.
So, basically; a mix of van der Bass and van der Humphrey. (:

Why did the writers waste time on a bunch of meaningless flings when they could've given us more of this?

Waldass Kicks Ass, thanks for the screencaps. Despite the fail that was episode 2.20 this scene was very cute but not long enough. :( We need more in season 3.
Count Lily and Rufus in too, I'd like to see them parenting/bonding the bunch. Lily/Chuck and Rufus/Eric was done in S2; there has to be more of that too. Not necessarily plotting, but not just mushy or kids-arguing-with-parents stuff...although imagine if Dan, Jenny, Serena, Eric, Chuck all banded together against Rufly? Or they all suddenly went through rebellious phases at the same time? It'd be like karma payback for Rufus and Lily's wild years.
And, where does Scott fit into all of this? :D
