Who's to Blame? Nate or Chace?
-
Let me be frank. As a film actor, I have learned quite a bit about the differences between real acting and film acting. If you want to see real, genius actors? Go see something on stage. As for film? People aren't cast due to talent. It's all a game on who looks pretty, or interesting enough to fit a character. They narrow it down from there, and depending on who knows who or who they can get for cheaper, they usually pick from that.
It's an exciting day when actors are chosen for their raw ability.
I think it is very interesting that Ed Westwick got the role of Chuck. He was relatively unknown, and an easy case to study--one of the ones who got it for talent. Regardless about how you feel about his acting, he can do an amazing American accent. That alone would wow casting agents enough to give him a shot.
Chace. Oh, Chace. He's a really nice guy. He's also an ex-model. He got cast because he is pretty, and looked pretty with Blake Lively. Remember, the main focus at the beginning of the season was Serena/Dan...and Nate being a stalker-face. Nate is pretty. Teenagers love pretty boys on their teenage dramas. Oh snap, look at that! He got the role. (Only after the original choice turned it down.)
I think the writers heavily decide what storylines go down by what the fans want. Fans wanted Chair, and they got Chair. Hence why Season 2 was ALL CHAIR. Serena's boobs...you want more? There you go. Everyone loves Michelle Trachtenberg, and she was brought back for more.
Nate is boring because of his acting. Same reason why Vanessa is boring--Jessica is beautiful, but can't bring enough sass to the role to make Vanessa likable. Nate is a gentleman, but Chace makes him...dull. No storylines so far? Oh, wait. That's because he's failed to make any of the ones they have given him all that interesting.
I think Blake and Chace look gorgeous together, so Serenate is a good bet on the writers' parts. Especially since the best job they do while acting is when they are being happy/silly in those rare flashback scenes in Season 1. The rest of the time, it looks like...Degrassi.

I find with most beautiful actors need something challenging in order to stop resting on pretty. let's face it the character of Nate is too easy as is Vanessa and you get comfortable with it too easily. You know I actually thought Angelina was piss poor actress until I saw Gia.

I like Nate sometimes, as more than just eye-candy. He's funny in the sneak peek for tonight ep. And he's funny when he's all natefused.

I've always thought Angelina was a great actress, which is why I don't like it when people compare Megan Fox to her, because I don't think Megan Fox has one tenth of the depth of character that Angelina Jolie has. But maybe I'm judging her to early in her career. She hasn't really been anything that has really allowed her to showcase her talents (and by talents I don't mean tits or ass) Who know where Megan Fox will be in ten years. Maybe she'll have an Oscar and six adopted children. Or maybe she'll be washed up, doing B horror movies.
But to get back to Chace, I haven't seen him in anything other than GG, so I can't really judge his acting abilities either. He's probably never going to be the next Leonardo DiCaprio, but Leo doesn't need anybody to replace him just yet.

Yeah, to me charisma is seperate from acting. You can be a great actor but then not be charismatic in interviews. And vice versa is true.
It's like when a politician is running for office. You can't just have a great record. In order to win you need to have charisma too.

I think that Chace is a great actor....his storylines...are mediocre. He is easy on the eyes which is a triple plus...but hopefully this season will redeem Nate as a character....especially with Serenate happening this season!!!!

You can't compare Chuck Bass with boring dull Nate Archibald. Actually... i watched the first episode of Gossip Girl when it aired in my country in January, 2008 and i was sooooo bored i was like: WTF? i love the books but this show...? the people who made O.C really made this crap? the only thing i liked was that blair was blair and i hated chuck so much when he was about to rape jenny but he had charisma and was totally awesome and hot. i wanted chuck and blair to hook up the first time i saw them together i immediately became obsessed with GG! looooool now i live for gossip girl (CHAIIIIIIIIIIIIR<3<3) but that was my thoughts back then... i loved blair waldorf ever since i started reading the books. BW for life! soo when i watched Victor/Victrola i was like OMGGGGGGGG I LOVVVEEE IT! I FUCKING LOVE THIS SHOW! and then when C&B hooked up in the limo i was officialy a addicted GGholic.
Back to the topic... i've never really seen Chace in other movies. but he's BORING, has only two facial expressions, a boring voice, no effing acting skills at all..he's not even hot or good-looking for me. too cheesy.... LOL he doesn't have eds charisma or epic hotness. and i don't think he'll ever be able to manage his character and make some good scenes...EVEEER! that guy should hook up with whatsherface and be send to Vermont. And never be seen again.

He has done a lifetime movie which is whole bunch of emotions involved. His character was a son of lady, who thought both he and his father died in boating accident when he was a child. The father kidnapped him and raised him without his mother. He was great in that.

Blair: Just because we can't be together doesn't mean I don't love you.
