I don't think that's it. They're shooting in Brooklyn and that's not where Bart died; he was on his way to the Snowflake Ball.
My theory is that Chuck gets into a car accident and has his "Christmas Carol" themed dream in the hospital.
Josh did something similar on The OC in the 4th Season. Ryan and Taylor were hanging Christmas lights, fell, and had a dream in the hospital.
