'I'm ready to do something else'
That could be a suggestion that he wants Chuck to have a new romantic interest.

The wickedness of women
How dare you, Ed Westwick!!
Seriously now Ed, or the rest of the cast for that matter, well or THE WRITERS AND PRODUCERS for that matter, yes it's time to move on and let GG stay as the lovely and addictive series GG used to be in our sweet and pleasant memories. Nowadays this is a delicate double wrapped crap.
I know this is probably bad written, but hey you understand me right?

I wish the producers patterned the series along the lines of Skins when it comes to seasons: changed casts after the second. Everything went downhill when they decided to bring Gossip Girl to college and beyond. I think the show would have had better success if they built up on the character of Jenny. Gossip Girl is a tool most useful in high school setting. Now, the show is just trying too hard and the members of the cast are obviously getting sick of acting out recycled, tired storylines.

I talked about different roles other than the motherChucker.
The 23-year-old actor is best known for playing Chuck Bass in the hit TV show and although he has enjoyed the role and is thankful for the opportunity he yearns to work on something different. He said: "It's all about the work, you know; the feeling you get when you connect to the work. And that's what I had with Chuck Bass in the beginning - I was fascinated by him. But now, to be completely honest, I'm ready to do something else. Really ready to do something else.”
About his role in Chalet Girl:
He added in an interview with Tatler magazine: "It was refreshing to go from playing an a***hole to playing someone who's a bit more like I am – a nice boy. He has a heart, he has a soul, and he's still figuring out his place in the world."
It's so sad, because he really did "connect" with the character in S1/2. It doesn't sound like he's bored, just really disappointed with the road they've taken with Chuck, all of you "Chuck haters" should understand that... all the BS they've pulled and refused to redeem him. It's almost been a whole year since 3x17 and still nothing. Not to mention the lack of POV could be frustrating for any actor trying to understand his character's actions.

I can see Ed being frustrated with the development of his character. His story arcs became a bit outrageous: dead mother coming back, 18 year-old running a hotel like he's been doing it all his life, pimping his girlfriend to his attempted rapist of an uncle. Those are hard to connect with. It seems that Ed is a bit of Chuck hater as well at this point and I can't blame him :)

I can see Ed being frustrated with the development of his character. His story arcs became a bit outrageous:
I think Chuck has always been the least realistic character on the show. Maybe that's a bit harsh, but in real life you are much less likely to meet a Chuck than you are a Dan, for example. I'm sure that was always a big part of his appeal. He's a fantasy figure rather than someone you might bump into on the street or at school.
I would imagine that it was Chuck's outrageousness that made him fun to play in the first place. It would also have been interesting for Ed as an actor to show that slow humanisation he went through, when firstly falling for Blair, through to his grief at the death of his father. However, that's kind of where the satisfactory development of Chuck as a character ends really.
But I don't think they really had many options for what they could do with his character anyway. At the beginning of S3 he wasn't going to college, so they had to give him something to do. Trying to prove himself against his father's legacy was a pretty logical and sensible route to take. The details just didn't work though. It's probably a combination of the writing, acting, costume and direction, but he came over as a middle-aged man, and this middle-agedness penetrated his relationship with Blair too. Then probably as an over-reaction against that, they decided to have him perpetrate such a dispicable betrayal of Blair.
So to summarise, Ed does have cause to feel that his character has gone in the wrong direction (as do all the actors on the show), but that's only really because there wasn't really much choice in Chuck's case. The IP SL was more WTF than was really needed, but they had to do something to make Chuck the bad guy again and inject drama.
What path would the rest of you have Chuck take now?

That's a great question. I would change the characterization over time to be less asshole. And I think he needs someone to be a catalyst for changing his view on life and his priorities. But not someone like Eva and by that I mean not a romantic interest. Something absolutely platonic that can show Chuck can connect to someone in a different way without there beeing a personal gain for him. It's a little cliche, I realize that, but I just don't see another way of digging Chuck out of the smelly pile he is in now. Chuck has done a lot of bad things and he can't take them back, but there is a thing to be said about trying to be a better person. I don't think the show would go this way and show Chuck as someone who wants to change, but if I wanted Chuck to come out in more or less positive light in the end of the series, I would probably go that route. If not, they might as well shoot him because no one cares about Chuck being the self-pronounced all that anymore.

Actually, I take this back. That's how the season 4 started, Chuck wanting to be a completely different person. And then Blair convinced him that he is Chuck Bass and all that basically giving validation to the fact that Chuck being all sorts of hateful things is who Chuck Bass is and if he ever dared to change that would be like lying to himself and betraying his true nature. Forget it, then. Just shoot the guy again.

Blair: You say I always bet against you. Not this time. I'm all in.
