....And I'm so pissed! Is George's face really that bad? I mean, will he have a different face if he survives? He was waaaaaaay too hot, come on! It's just not fair!
Can you imagine? Not seeing TR Knight as George O'Malley ever again? DEPRESSING
:(

Well, we can only guess what Shonda and company have in store for us next season, but I really hope George and Izzie both make it. I think they lose too much of the show without them. 40% of the original 5 . I think it would devestate the rest of the characters too much and the show would have officially jumped the shark if we lose both Izzie and George. I am hoping all of this is just to get people tuning in again, and we get to keep them both.

Having another actor for George? Weeeiiiird... Grey's hopefully will not go this soap opera-y way. Hate to say that, but if one of them has to die, I hope it's him. I love Izzie and it wouldn't be my favorite show without her. I'm glad there are so many others here who also think that the last scene looked more like George dying, with Izzie in the elevator and such. On the other hand- if he survives surgery, he's fine. She might still have cancer, even if they revive her. What worries me is- Shonda keeps claiming we don't know what's coming. Now if all these people keep saying that they think Izzie will live and George is the one who dies, maybe she'll turn it around on us! Ghaaa, I hope not! Let Izzie live!

I really dont see this elevator scene the way most people do... I dont think that being outside the elevator means death, and in my head I can hear mcdreamy saying "ok, lets put him under" over and over again. So, the way I see it, George is not dead, he´s only in a sort of coma, or induced coma, so they can treat his injuries. Kinda like when Mer drowned. She wasnt dead, she was unconscious, and wandering around the hospital. I guess George is there, outside the elevator, to talk to Izzie, because she flatlined. She's the one in the limbo, between life and death, not in a coma induced state. So he's there to talk to her, and to make sure she comes back. Because he has time to wander around, while they work on him... but Izzie doesnt. She has to come back when they shock her...
And I really really REALLY prefere thinking they will be back, thinking they are not dead, they are not gone. I just have to stay positive. Untill I see it for myself, when season 6 begin, that they are not, they will remain ALIVE for me.

I agree Carolina. I just find the way that Grey's does The Other Side and Purgatory and The Elevator of Life and Death to be kind of cheesy. Its a medical show for god sakes, not Touched by an Angel. I hope that the elevator scene is in the mind of either George or Izzie and not meant to tell us who lives or dies.
If one or both die, it won't just profoundly impact one or two characters like the deaths of Denny, Ellis or George's dad. It will affect all of the characters and I just think it will be very, very depressing for awhile. I liked Grey's when there was a balance between humor and sadness.

I agree. I think that if George and/or Izzie die, the other people in the hospital will all be so profoundly affected by this that the show will be really morbid and sad for a while. To lose one or both of the beginning 5 interns would be devestating for not only the remaining 3 now residents, but also the other residents, interns and attendings. I liked the balance of humor/drama, but am not sure how they would have any humor to balance it if our main characters died! I kind of wish they would have just left George go off to the Army if they were going to kill him. I hope they both live, but am not optimistic for that outcome.
And, I think the elevator is in Izzie's imagination. It was in the first episode of this season when she walked off with Denny.

personally
i think that this whole dying thing is a way for shondra to let THEM (katherine and TR) see if they want to stay. If the rumors are true that they wanted out of their contracts then having both of them on the edge of death gives katherine and TR a chance to decide whether they still want to be there.
Also i think that Shondra is not an idiot and wont get rid of them unless they want to leave because its pretty obvious that when charaters on shows start leaving the show starts loosing stats. This is pretty obvious in E.R. and its what like 20 seasons where theres like no one the same as when it started.

I really hope neither of them dies because in my opinion the show would just go down hill. I mean losing 2 of the original cast, thats just too much. Plus their deaths are going to have a BIG inpact on the other characters. Alex would never be the same without izzie. To me Alex is a complete ass without izzie. Izzie makes him better. The other characters would not get over thair death as easy as other past deaths. They're all practicaly family. The show wouls ust suck without them.

I'm still ticked that we lost Denny.
If we lose Izzie, then Alex will just go back to being a jerk. She brings out his good side.
If we lose both Izzie and George, I doubt I'll buy Season 5 and 6 Dvd sets.
