omg i know! i was such a mess after those episodes it was terrible. poor mer.
and i hate how derek like semi blamed meredith and said that he thought she was trying to commit suicide?! ugg that kinda pissed me off.

the best was in season 2 with the train accident and also the one when merediths mother comes to the hospital and everybody finds out

This is a great topic!! Here are my pics off the top of my head--
Mer's drowning-- the scene when Der was in the hallway. That look on his face. Mark coming to sit with him. Addie's speech. That whole thing-- there's no way to watch all that w/o shedding tears!
The closet-- George & Izzie scene-- no words spoken, but George had just remembered what had happened between them. Oh, just thinking about it tears me up. (I'm a Gizzie fan, but George is so good and when he realized that he cheated on his wife and that any love b/t he and Izzie was going to be tainted-- oh, that scene just killed me. No words were spoken but the expressions, the tension, the chemistry between them)
Denny dying-- when Izzie wouldn't let go of him and Alex had to pick her up and carry her out.
The scene when Mer started crying after William's execution when she said she doesn't even get herself sometimes.
The scene when Izzie was giving the bone marrow transplant for her daughter and George said he had to go to be with Callie and walked out the door.... my heart broke into a million pieces and the tears started flowing and then he came right back in and by then I was absolutely bawling!!!
In a recent epi-- when the old couple who always say goodbye to each other b/f the woman's surgeries on her brain tumor-- when she was dying, but she was DNR and the old man started doing CPR himeself and Bailey had to take over for him b/c he was about to collapse from the physical strain of it and then Bailey just couldn't bring herself to be the one to stop so Der had to take over and let the woman go-- UGH! Just thinking about that scene just kills me!
I'm sure there's more... the acting in this show is so phenomenal that I've been brought to tears so many times by these characters!!!

The scene were Denny died was the best crying-scene! Totally broke my heart.
I actually didn't cry when Mer drowned - knew she was gonna survive. Besides, they couldn't have ended the season without the main character. Honestly I was kinda disappointed that she didn't, 'cause if she did, at least the show would have been orginal.
The scene when George father died and George found out that Bailey hadn't told him that they were gonna operate on him anyway - gave me goosebumps. You know, when he was all teared-up and screaming at the chief and bailey.

Oh, forgot to meantion the gay soldiers Todd and Kevin! When they didn't get to say their final goodbyes because of Kevins dad - and Kevin is wheeled off for brain surgery and dies in the O.R. So saad!
I altso cried over that brain-aneurisme lady that no one belived was telling the truth about her boyfriend. They thought he was imaginary. And then she ends up in a coma and he shows up. Heartbreaking.

i would have to say the episode when mer died. not when she died. i cried when she finally realized she was running out of time and only sometimes feeling derek wouldn't be enough or sensing him.

ok, after watching some of the clips again on youtube
...
the part that SO made me cry histerically was in
"The Becoming",
when there were those guys darren and todd, that were in iraq or sth, and one of them was dying, and they were actually in love with eachother, anyway, the part where todd is saying goodbye from darren made me cry so hard, end meredith was crying too and then there was the Taken By Trees song - Only yesterday....
MAN, what a sad part that was!

i was watchin it again yesterdai and im goin to hav to add when the two clinical trial patients beth and jeremy were in luv an then he died.when he said "im not finished loving you yet" i burst into tears because i knew he was going to die.

Okay so after reading everyone's responses I did a little testing of my own and some remembering and here's what I got.....
Meredith's Death- I honestly don't remember crying during this. I remember tearing up when Mark sat down next to Derek and just squeezed his arm, but not actually full blown out crying.
George's Dad's Death- I remember shedding tera or two for this episode. It was sad, I do remember that.
DNR Patient- I just watched this again and I swear everytime I see the closet scene between Meredith and Derek I start to cry. I don't know if it's the music or the acting it just makes me cry!
Stairway To Heaven- Okay this episode was definitley one of the more sad ones! I remember starting to cry when Jackson's mom told him it was okay to go and then I stopped. And then when Bailey started to cry, I just lost it! And then with Meredith crying, I just started to bawl like a baby! I honestly don't ever remember crying this much in one episode
Honest Mistake- I cried when Rob, Jen's husband starts to cry and say "I want my wife". I just felt bad!
