   I was just thinking... in which episode did we find out what the deal was with Sidney (when she was talking to Izzie about a mental breakdown she had because a patient of hers died or something)

   I believe you are right, it was Season 3, Where the Boys Are, and I think it was actually her own child that Sidney Heron lost, not a patient.  Could be wrong, but I think that is what it was.
