I think she'll say yes and not be too freaked out. I think she has grown so much since last season and the whole baby thing shows she has been thinking about their future and that she wants the same things he wants- and she knows he wants to get married. She has to be half expecting that it will come soon! They are at the point really where it is the most obvious step forward seeing as they live together, are discussing children and she has finally met his mother.

if he does quit it wont be for that long but hopefully mer will talk some sense into him. i really hope izzie doesnt die
but im sooo excited for the new episode im going crazy waiting for it!
i feel bad for derek too for being called a murderer..he really did try to keep Jen alive.

I think everybody is having the same problem, having to wait another whole week for GA to return. I realize since the season ends sometime in May that they have to insert a rerun once in a while to help fill in the gaps, but TWO weeks is WAY to LONG! I can't stand the waiting. I am finding myself checking the boards several times a day to see if anyone has posted a promo, or a sneak peak or anything to give us some insight into the next few episodes.
I do think we will see Derek going through hard times in the next few episodes. We know that Mer will be standing by him, but what we don't know is how Derek will accept her help. I hope he doesn't push her away. And if he tries to, I hope she keeps persisting that she is going to be by his side no matter what! I am so anxious to see how all of that will play out. As far as the episode coming up called "Elevator Love Letter", I think this is going to be good for Mer/Der. I've been thinking that Derek will wite Mer an amazing love letter and read it to her in the elevator. As we saw in the crossover episodes that Derek wrote Addison a song and thats why I think he'll write Meredith an amazing Love Letter. Wouldn't that be great?, Derek reading it to her and their music playing in the back ground, his eyes filled with tears and his McDreamy face, OMG, those facial expressions that he has will melt your heart. Meredith standing there with tears in her eyes listening to him and she smiles and says YES! Then they kiss! This would be great!
Obviously, I have too much time on my hands, but I would love for it to go down in that episode and not wait until the season finale. That would give us a few more episodes to enjoy their news before the season ends. I also think that Izzie's illness is what will bring Derek back to work. I'm thinking that Alex isn't going to want Derek to do the suregery after what he saw happen to Jen. Alex made alot of cutty remarks about Derek in that episode, thats why I'm thinking this of Alex. And maybe the clinical trial that Mer/Der worked on together may be what Mer/Der do again to cure Izzie and bring Derek's confidence back up and will bring him back to work. There is so much going on right now with so many of the characters. I'm just anxious for March 12th to get here or at least give us fans some good sneak peaks to have something to hang onto for 12 more days!........Kathy

If we do get our engagement with Mer/Der this season, which I DO THINK WILL HAPPEN, I thought it would be great so see Patrick and Ellen do some type of promotional thing for ABC/GA to promote their engagement. Whether it be a photoshoot or magazine covers or a promotional tour would be great. Especially, if it was where the fans could go see them together. I just love Patrick and Ellen together. They seem to have so much fun, like the NY & Co ads they did and the videos of them doing that looked like so much fun for them. Then there have been photo shoots in the past as well as magazine covers. It just seems that it has been a while since we have seen them and if we are finally getting the engagement/marriage, I think it would be great to see them out there doing something that the fans would love to see!
I thought it would be good to see them on the cover of the Brides Magazine this summer. Ellen in a wedding dress and Patrick in his tux. That would be a must have magazine for everybody if that were to happen. I'm sure if they do appear on a magazine over the next few months or whatever promoting an engagement and or weddding, it will definitely be a big deal for whomever decides to promote and we as fans will get our copy! (ha) Just a thought....Kathy

I'm almost positive the engagement will happen this season. I bet the wedding will be next season. SO excited!

If they were on the cover of a bridal magazine, there would be plenty of non-brides purchasing a copy that month!!!
Kathy, I hope you are right. I REALLY hope you are right! And I hope Shonda does not make us wait until the end of S5. I felt so cheated at the end of S4. We finally got what we SO wanted and then we got no time to enjoy it-- we had to wait all summer for S5 to start.
My fingers are crossed for the Elevator Love Letter epi-- a proposal HAS to happen then!!!

I will be nice to have a proposal in "elevator love letter"- but I don't think it will happen... they will save it for the season finale, I think. because all the great scenes happened in the last episodes... first Addie showed up, then MerDer got back together, Denny died... and in season three MerDer broke up, Burke left Cristina... and we all remember "Freedom"....
you see what I mean... proposal must be in season 5 finale!

well, ok, it is a big deal in a way, but she already knows he is planning to propose, cristina told her. And she just didn't freak!
