lol, I know what you mean, I have to go to bed to get up for work early, and I don't think I'll be able to pull myself together enough to face the real world. The main thing is that Mer didn't freak out and run away, she kept refusing to give up on him.

I just finished watching the episode and two key things stood out for me. Like some of you have already said, the Meredith / Derek scene at the end was both 'ouch' and 'wow!'. As a long time supporter of this couple, I should have hated that scene but I absolutely loved it. Meredith did not budge, she didn't waver and she made it known with, 'is that the best you can do!' - love it! As Jenna said in her blog, it's progress - big progress. Yay!!
The other thing for me was of course the Izzie diagnosis, but not just that, it was Izzie and Alex. I've never minded them as a couple but this season I really haven't felt the chemistry (maybe that was because Denny took over alot of the initial getting together episodes, I dunno..) but when Alex shared his excitement about his future and Izzie just pasted on her smile and agreed with him, knowing she might not be there to share it, and she ran after him to kiss him, I felt it then. I felt the love between them in that kiss. I look forward to seeing where this story goes - it will be nice to see how Alex deals with this.
Oh, yeah, it was also nice to see George ackowledge his friendship with Iz..

Izzie's pasted smile for Alex made me so sad.
Yay for Alex!!! He's finally blossoming-- as a Dr.-- with some sense of strength that is more than just angst!
But he's not very accessible to Izzie at all right now. I don't think he wants to be accessible b/c he's finally in this place of thinking something positive of himself, of life, of how things could be for him. Izzie's illness is going to be so hard on him. But I felt so bad for Izzie not being able to tell him, yet again. :(
I forgot to mention b/f-- honorable mention to Lexie. What a scene. Lexie really is a multi-faceted character. I know she annoys many fans, but I think she is so great on some levels. What a fantastic scene. And Izzie. Keeping her feelings in check enough to have that scene be not just about hearing some encouraging words, but also mentoring and teaching and guiding Lexie to really think about the side of patient care that is emotional. Bravo to CL and KH!!!
Oh, and yes, I am obsessed, but YAY to the George of the epi and to some very needed Gizzie friendship scenes!!!! YAY!!!!
MerDer will be OK. and I honestly think that the chief telling her about the ring helps with that!

LOVED this episode - really think it was one of the best this season (if not THE best). Derek is annoying me too but I still love him and I was happy about the last scene where he threw all of the insults at Mer because it totally does show that she's a lot stronger than she used to be. Wondering where Shonda will take us next with Derek . . . other than bringing him back to the hospital, of course, and having him apologize to Mer (if he even remembers what he said to her).
Izzie - God. I love her so much and this story line is so SAD!! Perhaps that is one of the reasons I liked this episode so much - it was sad, which reminded me of the old Grey's in season 2/part of 3. Katie Heigl is amazing!
Mark was hilarious last night - wow! He is so funny - especially with Callie. And I do like him with Lexie . . .
Can't wait until the 19th! Grey's Anatomy rocks!! (And it was way better than PrPr last night, which I usually don't say because PrPr is great too . . .)

For those who haven't seen it and want to know what Derek said to Meredith....he called her a lemon and said she was broken. He said that she never wanted him to live with her and that she wanted him out of her life. She just said no, that she was in it for the long and she knew about the ring. He kept telling her to leave. Very harsh scene....
