well... I just have to say what I think about last shocking MerDer scene:
first of all- I like Derek a lot, and it hurts me to see him so broken, but... the writers just wanna show us that life isn't perfect, and there are good and bad moments. McDreamy is great, but he's not perfect. This episode comfirmed that Derek can be also dark and twisty as Mer. And I'm optimist- in the next episodes, I believe that Derek will be McDreamy again.
and another thing that made me very happy- I was so proud of Meredith! He yelled at her (obviously very drunk), and he said some pretty bad things to her- but... she didn't run away! She stayed and tried to help him! That was the perfect moment!

i totally agree, 4ever_merder, i HATED that scene at first. but i just watched it again and mer was so strong. it showed how much shes grown, and she didnt run away.
can someone explain whats wrong with izzie to me? i know its cancer, but where? i wasnt really following the medical prognosis.

I don't really know what kind of cancer- they said that she has something on her brain (melanom???), and they mentioned the liver... but I'm not so good at that medical stuff...
and the other thing- the moment when Derek took out the ring! Seriously, my hearth almost stopped! for a moment, I had a felling that he'll propose, despite the all "drunken, hurt and not so McDreamy" behaviour!

I know when he brough out the ring i thought that too but then for some reason that he would throw the ring 2 her but when he hits it with the baseball bat

its a metastatic melanoma that has spread to the liver, skin and brain.
I can be wrong, but melanoma is a kind of malignant skin cancer, with high chances of spreading to other organs, like liver and brain. Its surgical, and has good chances of recovery if you find it in the early stages... In Izzy's case, as it already spread to liver and brain, they are talking about few months, 5% chance of survival...
but im not a doctor, im a biologist, so i can be wrong...

The second he asked "you want the ring?" I was like oh crap... he's gonna hit it with the bat. I have faith that he WILL regain his McDreamy status. He IS McDreamy. For now though... McDreamy=McJackass.
I'm so proud of Mer! "I'm like a proud mama"-Izzy Stevens.

Here is the dialogue from the end scene of last night’s episode of Grey’s, between Mer and Der (the one everyone is talking about). For people who haven’t yet seen this fantastic episode or for those who just want to see what was said again:
Scene: Derek is outside his trailer hitting empty beer cans with a baseball bat. Mer approaches. After they talk about the fact that he is hiding, this is said (the italics are Mer’s voice over toward the end):
Der: I’m done operating.
Mer: Oh. Ok. So you’re just quitting.
Der: You should understand better than anybody else. You wrote the book on quitting. Running, hiding, there’s a lot of books, Meredith. (drinks beer)
Mer: That may be true, but I’m here now.
Der: Mmmm. (swallowing) Mm. You’re here now. (She nods) Ha ha. You’ve wanted me out since the day I moved in.
Mer: That is not true.
Der: (approaches her) Because you’re incapable of anything that resembles commitment. You lied to me. You said you were healthy – that you were, you were healed. There’s no fixing you. You’re a lemon.
Mer: Derek Shepherd, you are drunk. (He hits a can) And you’re angry. And I’ve been there so I get it, but that does not give you the right –
Der: Just go home, Meredith.
Mer: You don’t get to just stand here and tell me –
Der: This is what you want. I’m giving you an out. Go.
Mer: I’m not going anywhere.
Der: I said leave!
Mer: I’m –
Der: Meredith, leave! (Stare at each other, he looks away)
Mer: I know there’s a ring.
Der: What?
Mer: The chief told me; I know there’s a ring.
Der: You want the ring? (Reaches into his pocket and takes out the box, opens it and shows it to her. He takes it out.) Here’s your ring. (Throws it up and hits it with the bat, she stares at him. He throws the bat and heads to the trailer.) Every surgeon has a shadow.
Mer: Is that the best you’ve got? ‘Cause I’m not bailing; we’re in this together. (He goes in the trailer)
Der: Go home, Meredith! (Shakes her head and turns to leave) And the only way to get rid of a shadow, is to turn off the lights, to stop running from the darkness (ring pictured as the background fades to black), to face your fear head on.
I’m not sure if the last part is completely right because my internet keeps shutting down spontaneously but that’s all of it. Rough scene, great scene! Patrick Dempsey does a great job here – it’s easy to get caught up in Derek and forget about how well Patrick plays him. Ellen too, of course – she’s great. Great episode, scene, dialogue! Love the ring image toward the end – great image.
