I get why Izzie left. As she said she had nothing left. And she's was just screaming against that Charles guy about having eachothers back and then she hears how her own husband got her fired. Well, that's what she thinks.

But I really want Izzie to come back soon!

So Izzie has nothing left - really?  Except a miraculous recovery from a life threatening illness, friends who have rallied around her on more than one occasion (including giving her a dream wedding) and a husband who has stood by her through everything.

I'm sorry, I realize that she has been through a lot...but she isn't the only person affected by her illness or George's death.  And if she really thinks that Alex would go behind her back to the chief to get her fired then she doesn't know him at all.  She could have, I don't know, been a freakin' ADULT and talked to him about it before running off and leaving a note.  If he had done this to her she would have flipped out on him.  I hope he doesn't take her back right away.  She never ceases to amaze me with her self-absorption.

@TDS- I disagree I don't feel Izzie should be punished because she was given her gift of life.   Yes, she should be thankful for it and live it to the fullest but I thought that's what she was trying to do.  Wasn't Cristina the one that said (about Izzie last episode) "When you save someones life you kinda want it not to suck".  Just because she lived through what she probably in real life circumstances wouldn't have doesn't mean she should always get the short end of the stick. RIGHT?  I mean George was 'her person' just like Cristina has Meredith and vice versa. She may have lost him just like everyone did and she may not be the only one affected by it. But she was affected the most by it because they all still have someone or their person and she doesn't.  Now, I will have to agree on the note I felt like it was a little junior high-ish.  Not I'm married and grown and I'm going to break it off in a note.  That's just as foolish as getting married on a post it note if you ask me.  These writers need to  step it up a bit.

I agree it was immature with the note and stuff. But I think it was a panic reaction. Her whole world was falling apart. She felt stapped in the back by Alex. Maybe she didn't know what to do.

laurajs - I don't think Izzie should be punished for living either and I didn't mean to imply that.  But to say that she has NOTHING without her job completely dismisses all of the love and support she has gotten from just about everyone for months and months. Meredith, Bailey, Derek, Cristina, Alex, etc. did everything that they could to save her life.  I get that she is confused and upset (maybe more so than the others), but her lack of self awareness just grates on my nerves.

If this were a one time deal with Izzie I wouldn't be so hard on her.  But this is a pattern with her.  Whatever she is going through is ALWAYS more important than what anyone else is going through (and not just Alex).  When George's dad was in the hospital she got mad at him for bringing up Denny as though someone you knew for a month is more important than someone's father.  She considered herself the injured party in her affair with George rather than Callie.  What she wants in respect to her marriage is more important than what Alex wants (not that she often even considers what Alex wants).  It just goes on and on and I find it very hard to sympathize with her.

After having said all that about Izzie, I also have to add that we don't yet know what her note said.  Its possible that it just said that she had been feeling overwhelmed and needed space and that Alex took that to mean that she was leaving him because of something he had done.  So while the note wasn't the best way to handle it, I will admit that we don't really know what it said yet.

I do like Izzie as a character, but Alex is my favorite and I just hate to see him get hurt by her again.  After everything the writers did with Denny last season, I need to see her appreciate him as much as he appreciates her.

I agree with TDS. I don't know what's going on with the storyline.. but I hope Izzie's issues will be resolved in the process and that she learns to be more mature and less self-centered. She already has Alex as a husband, not just a boyfriend or colleague. Their (AI) characters will go through a lot -- obviously a lot of growing up is needed. Re: episode 6,her line that "she has nothing left" - that was quite sad... for her to think that work is the only thing that defines her.

I hope alex and izzie will have a baby.. and that their story would not disappoint their followers.

Izzie left because KH asked for a 5 week leave to shoot her new movie. That's probably why she was fired on Grey's, to justify her absence on the show...

Maybe not the best storyline, but she's still on the show...

I don't agree that Izzie is selfish.  I just don't.  And we've had this conversation before, so I don't want to go on and on about it, but I don't see her that way.

Alex has had his moments of not being that great to her too.

As for her saying in 6.6. that she has nothing left... I agree w/ dew that it's more that she feels like work is the only thing she had left that defines her as Izzie, as herself... and that is very sad.  She literally just fell apart.  Completely.

I've been here on Insider and other places and have seen other fans bashing Izzie endlessly.  I don't get it.

The girl has cancer, thought she was going to die, instead was revived to find out that her best friend in all the world-- the person who knew her best, is dead and now, on top of it all she gets fired.  Bailey and George were the two who supported her best.  It's always been Izzie's way to keep the big-bad close to her heart.  That's just what she does.  So, yes, those who care have to stop and look and see what's going on with her.  The others love her and try to support her and have done a ton for her.  But they also get wrapped up in their own stuff and forget to see what's going on w/ Izzie emotionally.  And she's never been the one to come forthright out with it.

Have you ever come unzipped like that, TDS?  Seriously?  I have.  I didn't even want to admit it to anyone or myself, that I was coming apart.  You try to stuff it down and put on a smile so everyone wil think you're fine... it's almost too much to show.  George and Bailey always could see it, though, even when Izzie tried to hide it.  And now George is gone and Bailey has shut off her emotion towards Izzie.

I agree that Alex has tried to be supportive.  But I'll also say that those two both married each other thinking that they were giving Izzie her dream wedding b/f she dies.  On top of all the other big things that both of them have to deal with emotionally, they both have to come to terms with the fact that they are married in the "lets grow old together" permanent, not going to end soon way.  And it's not just Izzie who's having issues with that-- Alex said to Cristina in 6.5 that he was done, should leave, whatever-- yes, it was a moment and he didn't actually leave, but it shows that he's feeling the gravity of it too.  He's got his issues struggling with it too.

And at the time she left, she thought Alex had betrayed her.  I agree that she should have confronted him about that, but she was coming completely unglued... so, emotionally, I don't think she could've handled it.

I do like your point, though, that we have no idea what the letter says...  we will have to wait and see...

We do know that she is coming back... KH took a 5 epi leave, but Izzie will be back.
