Love/Addiction

I feel exactly as you do Pink. I'm sorry Trisha and Angie, I know how desperately you want to stay positive. But I now feel being positive is Pollyanna-ish with GA anymore. As Pink said, for the first time I felt tired of Grey's last night. It had a repetitious feeling. The fun is not back, I definitely did not swoon, and it was a far cry from the brilliance of seasons 1 & 2. Grey's was fresh and orginal then and their powerhouse cast was intact. In this episode what they did to Callie was brutal. Meredith has become grim and hard. Mark is suddenly Dr. Phil and MerDer is still in their same old funk. When they were interns, we loved these characters because they were flawed yet likeable, so easy to relate to. Now, they are getting so dark and jaded these are not people I can relate to anymore. Trisha, I haven't heard the podcast, but I could tell that about MerDer from watching this episode. That is why I was devastated to see Derek's love portrayed as an addiction. I honestly don't believe Shonda knows what real love is or can be, or is capable of giving it to us. For anyone who thinks I'm being too negative, read Patrick Dempsey's own words of frustration in his recent interview in TV Guide. Good luck to anyone who thinks the fun is back. I find it much healthier to be realistic about my disappointment with the show we all fell in love with and wanted to succeed.Posted 10/5/2007 1:00:00 AM #

Hey Rose, It's not easy and I totally understand, one moment I feel like its hopeless and the next I'm grabbing at anything positive that I can. That being said, do you have the link to PD's interview in TV Guide.Posted 10/5/2007 1:00:00 AM #

Trisha--I cannot find a link because it was in the newsstand magazine. PD talked about how the show lost their way at the end of season 3. And how frustrating it was for him because MerDer was doing the same things over & over, and not moving forward. He said, why can't these people have an adult relationship with some depth to it? (Our feelings exactly!) A picture of PD in this TV Guide article was captioned, "Dempsey muses McDreamy should end it with Meredith: "Frankly, I think Derek is alittle over dating co-workers!" That interview came out just prior to the premiere, and I was upset at what he said about Derek being over dating coworkers. Now I see where he was coming from. If you need anything additionally depressing, look at this: http://www.rte.ie/arts/2007/1005/greysanatomy.htmlPosted 10/5/2007 1:00:00 AM #

Oh Rose, that is depressing. I shouldn't have looked. That being said, even if they do give Derek a new romantic interest, it won't fly with most of the fans because Shonda has already told us that Mer/Der have this magnetic pull and it isn't going anywhere...obviously, I'm utterly confused. I don't think he's right about the dating co-workers thing, but I agree, why can't Shonda just let them have an adult relationship. Crack out the Rolaids and fasten the seatbelt because obviously the ride isn't over.Posted 10/5/2007 1:00:00 AM #

OMG you two.....I shouldn't have looked either! :( Although possibly that's the kick in the pants Meredith needs to fight for her man. I do feel as if we've been misled about all the "fun" we're supposed to be watching so far this season. A minute here and there interspersed with the same old same old nonsense from last year is not gonna cut it. There's still alot of season left though, so I'm hanging in there.Posted 10/5/2007 1:00:00 AM #

Ya know for me I think it has come down to this...Im tired of the same old BULLSHIT...this is ridiculous. I thought Shonda was a great writer once upon a time..now its like she is drowning in her own story that will never be revived. I feel like Derek right now...this isn't the Meredith I fell in love with and I am addicted now so I feel like I have to watch..I feel like I am the one standing at the top of the stairs not wanting to reach out but I do... I still tune in every painful thursday night to see these peoples lives colapse...Grey's Anatomy for the time being will just be another damn tv show...the passion is lost but not gone foreverPosted 10/5/2007 1:00:00 AM #

awwww Pink so sorry gf....hang in there with us! Maybe you just need to detox a bit....don't think about it for a while. Try not to look at the spoilers and previews, etc. The spoilers are hardly ever right anyway. Make sure you come here though to let us know how you're doing.Posted 10/5/2007 1:00:00 AM #

Don't lose the faith yet Pink!!! Stay with us.Posted 10/5/2007 1:00:00 AM #

Pink--SERIOUSLY! that is a perfect analogy. For me, it makes all the difference in being able to let it all out here. Once I unload my disappointment I'm back to wanting to watch next week. I do think the fans who are most addicted, who love Grey's most, are the ones who are suffering most from these growing pains. And from Shonda's dark and twisty brand of true love. As Trisha and Angie said, hang in there girl...we're here for ya.....Posted 10/5/2007 1:00:00 AM #
