I liked your positive take, especially this paragraph:
"The Yang, Sloan, Hunt nexus this week was hilarious. George wrasslin the robot: hilarious. Yang talking about her dad with Hunt: riveting. The old man begging for his wife to answer him "Rosie, Rosie, Rosie": absolutely heartbreaking. The cadaver club: gruesome, gothic, naughty.Yang smacking down Sloan, Callie getting Izzie's back...so many great moments last night."
Callie getting Izzie's back was AMAZING-- I forgot about that amazing part!!!
George with the robot was hilarious. I just really need to see more than George being hilarious... I need to see more George. I know that getting SGH back to being great is the focus. I want more than one focus, I think.
I'll take a step back and feel the love.
But I'll still hope for a bit more too :)
Oh-- also,
where do you think they are going with Izzie? Will we see more Denny? The scenes between the two had so much pull, so much energy-- heartstopping those two are.

I think this episode was awesome.. such great parts..
Of Course the return of Denny
Loved the part when Derek asks Mark to sleep with Christina and she doesn't get it the whole day and in the end Meredith turns to Derek and says:"Sloan? seriously???" hilarious
I think Hunt's outside point of view might help the Chief to change somethings on the hospital so it can get back to the top.. and Christina's speach in the end was awesome.. it helps us to see why she is how she is..
George and the Robot (better the Chief) was simply brilliant
Mike's story was kinda complicated.. there was Izzie's side and then there was Erica's.. i dont know it's too complicated.. Erica's kinda right it was wrong but we've dealed with this on Season 2.. it is done.. Callie's right why should Erica dig it up, it's not going to help Mike to get a new heart.. she justs wants to mess SGH to be even with the fact that Callie is not as into her as she is.. and that's not right either.. she should make this so personal.. it's just like on last weeks episode Erica was pissed by Callie running away in the middle of her crying that she spent the whole day nagging Bailey and Meredith while they were trying to save that girl.. Now i remember why i never really liked Erica in the first place..

I liked last nights episode too. I have to admit though, I was looking for more Mer/Der scenes! I miss them! I know that Shonda is obviously taking it very slow with these two and I understand that but, come on...shouldn't we see alittle more of them other than 10-15 seconds at the beginning and the end of the episode. I look forward to them each week for my grey's Mer/Der fix and lately we are not getting hardly anything! Don't get me wrong, I AM THRILLED that they are together and seem happy, but like last night, I did not like that Meredith chose Cristina over Derek at the end of the episode. I felt bad for him! I certainly would not have left him upstairs (ha)! I guess Shonda wants to show that Derek has to learn to accept Cristina as Mer's best friend. I think he is being very patient with Mer. I just hope that soon Cristina will get involved with Hunt and we will see more of Mer/Der together! I truly hope that SHonda has bigger and better things ahead for Mer/Der that will make us all happy! Also, I was thinking maybe Addison would be visiting for a possible Mer/Der engagement party or I would love for it to be a wedding! I keep thinking about Patrick hinting alot lately about a possible Mer/Der wedding. A Great Feb. Sweeps idea to me!

i don't think Meredith chose Christina over Derek.. i think she went downstairs with Christina so Derek could get some sleep.. as respect for him.. 'cause he wasnt getting much sleep with the two of them on the phone and i think that they saw the thing when Derek told Mark to hit on Christina like a hint...
oh i would love to see Addison again at SGH..

Ok, So more points on the episode.
Hahn- YAY shes out of here! I dont like her character.
Hunt- Dont like him. Hunt+Yang=never
Christina- OMG that was hilarious! She didnt get that Sloan was hitting on her! OMG i laughed soo hard. She was being all whiney and all "Meredith, Meredith i need you" ughhh. And cant she be happy for Mer? why does she hate Der so much? its anoying
MerDer- WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO THE HEAT? I MISS IT. GOD!

On the Mer Der front, since people are aching for more heat, I think I'm going to do a Mer Der heat meter poll to see what people think after each episode. Right now, seems like the MerDer fans are NOT satisfied. Have to see after tonight...

I love this show but agree that it has been lacking the past few seasons. I honestly think that after Isaiah Washington left, the writing went downhill. I don't know if that's because Burke was such a central character and they had to change the direction of the show too much, but I have seen a difference.
One of the reasons I love this show, besides the personal lives of the main characters, is the side stories of the patients. This episode reminded me of the older shows with heartwrenching stories of patients. I often wonder, though, why none of the main characters respond or reflect much on what they learn/see from the patients. I realize they are doctors that aren't supposed to get attached, but I wonder why lessons can't be taken from those people. The older couple in this episode had the kind of love that every character on the show seems to long for. Yes, on the outside it seems like they just want sex, but I believe the characters are searching for lifelong intimacy (even Sloan). Their quests get them into all sorts of messes, but they are still longing for a love that will last. The older couple had that. The pain of the man as he tried to bring his wife back to life was so heartbreaking. I know only Bailey and Shepherd saw this, and I hope it translates to Bailey's marriage.
I know the show needs the sex and the drama to survive ratings but I am glad the writers include those stories of normal people - living their lives and experiencing huge loss and heartache. The relationship of the old man and old woman is the kind of relationship that I want - not one like Derek and Meredith.

I just rewatched this episode tonight, I saved the whole season on my DVR until it arrives on DVD (and then I start recording season 6 the following week!). This was great. Ed and Rosie, so so sad, but yet, so beautiful. You can see both Derek and Bailey admire the love that Ed and Rosie have.
The intern secret society of surgeries, etc creeps me out a little, but it was a good background story and leads up to bigger things to come.
I LOVED Denny Duquette. I know Shonda Rhimes created Denny Duquette with the intent of killing him, but I still miss Denny (and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, he's adorable!). It is nice to see him a little bit, but that also gets a little creepy in upcoming episodes, which I know is necessary in Izzie's storyline for the season, so it's ok that it gets a little creepy. It's supposed to.
Cristina telling Owen about her father was also a big step. She opened herself up and we get a little more about why she is who she is.
Finally, the best point for me, was Derek having Sloan try to hit on Cristina. This to me, is one of the funniest stories EVER in Grey's! Cracks me up every time. (possibly only second to the scene in the elevator in season 4 with Addie, Mer, Rose(YUCK!) and Derek, when Mark walks in) I can't stop laughing at Mark trying to flirt with her, and she doesn't even take notice. LMAO!!! And I love at the end when Derek comes in and Mer & Cristina are in the bed reading the journals and they pick on him for trying to hook Yang up with Sloan, then he says He's "going to take his pants off, so unless you want to see" and Cristina bolts out of the room, then Mer follows and says "I'll see it later" Too cute! I love all three of those characters!
And oh yeah, Hahn pitches a few fits and walks off into the parking lot of oblivion... Sorry, but this made me very happy. Not the hissy fits, but the Hahn leaving thing. I really never felt there was any chemistry between Hahn and Callie (still think Callie and Mark have some of the best chemistry on the show, after Mer/Der of course!), and I never liked Hahn from the day she showed up bickering with Burke in Season 2. I much prefer Arizona to Hahn where Callie is concerned. Maybe one day (season 6 maybe?) a new Cardio God will show up so Cristina can have a decent mentor.
