I think that could be part of it, but I also think that he is being honest, he cannot wait forever. I had to say the same thing to a friend of mine that I was in love with. I asked her later, after she got pregnant with a friends baby, why she never gave me the chance. She told me she always thought I would be there for her. I told her that I would not be and I wasn't I had gotten engaged. So Derek is trying to be honest. He wants Meredith to be ready and get ready, but he cannot promise to wait forever. It is very real to life.

Rose, this show is a drama that is played out over seven years, so the main characters are going to take a lot of time to get together. That is just how it works, so just enjoy the ride, because they will be together in the end. It is the journey of them getting there that makes it interesting to watch. It is what make good drama.

i felt like that rose... last season was tired for me... my heart was a bunch of pieces on the floor hahaha... i'm starting to enjoy the show again... specially because addison was my favorite one :( ... mark is the one who is the same all time and is amazing!!

Well thanks for sharing that about yourself Matt. It just felt really cruel to have something so good turned so bad. Because its so obvious Derek and that woman are going to be together. Patrick actually almost quoted his words that he said to Meredith tonight, in his recent TV Guide interview. He said, when a man gets to a certain age, he wants to settle down and get married, he's not going to wait around. Ever since the beginning I wanted to believe that nothing would stop Derek from loving Meredith. But tonight, he put a condition on his love--time. If he runs out of time, he won't be there. I do understand that a person can't really wait around forever. But Derek was my knight in shining armour and I believed in him. Oh well.

But that is what I am saying, this is TV so that means they will be together, in the end. I just wish you could enjoy how they get there. I just like watching the story play out, why and how characters change. It is like a 7 year book.

The writers are getting their ideas in real life drama that’s happening around us..people have to learn and grow and matured but sometimes the process is so painful and heartbroken but that is life.. What Derek said was true and meredith should know what she really wants..sad to say their relationship should go to this process and its not always base on sex. And hopefully at the end when Meredith and Derek get together they’re both matured and know the true meaning of love and relationship. I agree with mcdreamy02 lets just enjoy the show…

You notice when Bailey says,"People are stupid and just want to be loved." the look on Callie's face. I think that she realizes that she married George for the wrong reasons there. She wanted to be loved, and made a huge mistake.
