I listened to the podcast and Shonda said that they will get Meredith grown up, but that there is more stuff for her to work through. She also said for us to prepare ourselves because Derek really doesn't know what he will do if someone else comes along. To me that seems like this new potential love interest will be causing trouble for MerDer. I don't understand how he could move on to someone other than the love of his life and expect to truly be happy or to want to have all of those things (home, children, etc.) with someone else who might come along and want those things also. I think that it was wonderful to see Derek finally man up and tell Meredith what he wants. He laid it out there; she has time to change, but Derek has been doing this longer and will not live forever, he will wait, but he may not be able to wait forever. Honesty is the best policy! Derek was loving, he loves Meredith for who she is, they both want it, but they know Meredith needs more time. I am sure that in the end, they will find themselves together. The journey of growth and self discovering is what makes it worth watching. If things were easy, they would not be as worth having. That is why we have to learn the hard way, most of the time. I am sure that the "potential love interest" is going to make Meredith realize that she could lose Derek and will be a catalyst for change. Derek showed why he is McDreamy, he tries to do the right thing. He told Meredith how he feels, what he wants and was honest about there may not be all the time in the world. Does Derek want to date anyone else? Does he want someone else? No! But he is realistic. He knows there is a chance the Meredith will not change. He wants to be happy too. He wants kids, family and all that and, hey he is not getting any younger. All this to say, it is TV, and I am sure that it will end happy for Der/Mer. So, enjoy the ride of how they get there. It is like being in the middle of an Austin book, how will Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth find a way past pride and prejudice to be together? It is the same with Derek and Meredith. How will they grow past Meredith's insecurities and trust issues? Well Thatcher is back in a few weeks, so daddy issues can start coming out; Lexie is there to help, Mommy is coming out of the closet, so it looks likes some things are coming together!Posted 10/19/2007 1:00:00 AM #

I listened to it at spoilertv-greysanatomy.blogspot.com. I hope that the potential love interest will just be a catalyst for Meredith and that MerDer will have a happy ending with everything that Derek wants as well as what all of the fans want; however, I hope that it occurs before the end of season 7, and we are able to see them happy and living their lives together.Posted 10/19/2007 1:00:00 AM #
