I think Derek & Lexie talking & being friends will get Meredith to see how she should be with him! I think it will motivate her to settle down with Derek...or at least I hope so!!! I thought the episode was a good one and I love love loved when Derek told Meredith he wants to marry her!!! I was like YES!!! Well I can't wait for next week...it looks kinda freaky with Mer in the morgue... what's that all about!??!! Guess we'll have to wait and see!!!

I dont think meredith see Lexie as a threat as regards to her r/ship with derek but i heard a new comer is going to be derek's potential love interest, which freaks me out by the way. What i still dont get is, if mer loves derek and was willing to be in a r/ship with him in season 1,2 & 3 then why not now? what has changed? they obviously love each other, so what exactly is the problem? Sometimes i get so frustrated i feel like crying.I also think mer has started to like lexie, even if she wont admit it. cant wait till next week.

Hey hafsa, I understand your point about meredith but in Season 1, 2 and the beginning of Season 3 Meredith hadn't suffered her near death experience, her mother dying, fake mommy dying, daddy hitting her and blaming her for fake mommy's death etc... all these experiences have affected her and exposed her vulnerability and issues so to speak ... in light of those experiences meredith is finally realizing there's things she needs to work on before she can be ready to be in a full committed relationship with Derek. remember at the beginning of Season 3 when Derek realized Meredith "has never done this before". In other words, she's never done the relationship thing before. I think that also tells us a bit about why Meredith is where she is right now. That's my best guess right now anyway. man it's going to be hard to stomach Derek having a new love interest. Maybe she's a new attending. We're short a few of those right now.

Hi Trisha thks that helped alot, but i am still worried that derek will be tired of waiting plus i just hate the possibility of merder with different partners. Grrr..... anyway fingers crossed, hopefully it will eventually turn out well. However, i have a feeling we have a very long wait ahead.

I just saw The Heart of The Matter, less than an hour ago with 2 of my friends, which is pretty good for someone who lives out of the country. I dont post much because by the time I see stuff the boards are packed and I'm never able to read everything in one sitting, but I've read a lot of this board and I'm still super excited about what I just saw, being they grey's addict that I am, so I thought I might comment on a few things to let it all out. -First off... I really enjoyed this episode. I couldnt wait to watch it and it didnt disappoint. I still have that feeling from time to time that grey's isnt as great as it used to be but i'm still all over it. -Second... a few people's new looks: Izzie got a new hair cut and she looks Gorgeous!! Me and my friends counldnt stop talking about how HOT Karev got, the break did him good. McDreamy disappointed me. I'm such a big McDreamy fan. but he cut his hair he looks much older and quite frankly a little drained out. I really want the MerDer to work for him but he looks so tired of it and a little less McDreamy. -I beginning to really like Lexie. I'm growing very very fond of her. The only thing i dont like is her being close to Derek. I think Cristina should lighten up a bit when it comes to her. I was also really happy with Norman in this episode. he's funny! (now that he knows how an intern should act) -watching grey's the first time over I was a big Gizzie supporter but now I'm rewatching season 3 on DVD and although i still like them, I feel so much more for Callie and I liked how she and George got along at first (minus her jealousy) and its sad to see her so hurt. I think those were the main things on my mind for now. What do you all think? Agree? Disagree? Cant wait till the next one! I love holiday specials. Yay Halloween!

Hi Y'all I never understood complicated relationships. My undying question is, if you can ever be really sure of your love if you only got it after 7 seasons of developing and fighting for it? Would you call it a proposal what Derek said, or was it more like thinking aloud. What would he have said if Meredith had said: Yes, I am ready (even though she is not). Pretty dangerous stuff.

oh, no I have just seen the elevator scene - in the elevator and in front of the elevator. That was soooooo sad. You do not have a clue what a difference it makes to just read these lines in the quotes-area and to actually see them acted. Sad, sad, sad. That is worse than Meredith saying it is over, because if McDreamy gives up hope who will keep it?

That elevator scene was heartbreaking! I wanted to jump through the TV, hug Derek and push Meredith out of the way!

Pschyrembel and luv4whedon--that is exactly how I've felt. The most perfect, romantic MerDer love scene, turned heartbreaking by those last words--what if...? It was made even worse knowing they already have an actress in the wings waiting to "give Derek what he needs".
