What was Meredith Grey thinking??

   As we ALL know, we have 4 weeks to kill until the next eppy of Grey's.  I'm always up for some discussion, especially when we have sooo much time to kill.  I am a die hard MerDer fan, but curious about everyone else's opinions on this.

   OK, so this scene has been bugging me for some time now:

   This is the scene from "Where the Boys Are" in season 3 when Meredith is at the bar with Mark and Derek is camping with the boys.  Mark tells Meredith to start over and Derek is damaged goods.  If Derek wouldn't have shown up when he did, does anyone wonder what would have happened between Meredith and Mark?

   I do wonder, but I don't think she would have done anything. I mean he's Mark, Derek's best friend, the guy that slept with his wife. I don't think Mer could ever have done that to Derek. I know she said there was too much water under the bridge or whatever, but she wanted to get back with derek, and I just don't think she would have been able to hurt him like that.

   I always wonder what would have happened if Derek didn't showed up. Would be a major GA drama if they had get involved, but I also think that she would not do anything apart from some drinks at Joe's and some dirty mistresses club talking...

   And I think that were Mark's words what made her give a second chance to Derek, what made her start over and fresh with him.

   I think it is more a What the hell was Mark thinking?  He slept with Derek's wife, now he is trying to steal the girl he loves?  He is supposed to be his best friend?  What friend does that?

   PS - just for the record, I don't think Meredith would have done anything if Derek hadn't shown up anyhow.  She knows that would be too dangerous for everyone involved!

   I also think that Mark's words helped her realise that he was the reason that Derek was the way he was then!  Mark was the reason because he has slept with Derek's wife.. I think Meredith's narration (although I can't remember it now..) suggested that too..

   I agree. It is more "What the Hell Was Mark Sloan Thinking?". He tried to seduce her and it want only that once. He also tried when he caught Addie and Alex. I don't think Mer would have done anything because she knew not only would she be kinda cheating on Derek, she'd kill him because that'd be the 2nd woman Mark took.

   Derek was already so depressed about the whole addie living with mark thing when he left for Seattle, this would have just sent him more over the edge. Mer would never have done anything to hurt him that badly. Mark and Mer were just having a meeting of the dirty mistresses club
