Are you an actual doctor?

Oh and by the way, Grey's drives both my Dad and boyfriend insane. They like the storylines I think, but they just sit there and correct everything and moan about how unrealistic a lot of it is and nit pick on every little thing. I'm kind of glad they don't want to watch it because whenever they do catch an episode I find myself spending the whole time telling them to shut up

haha.. :))
I've always wanted to be a doctor,a CT surgeon precisely and my friends always tease me that I know so much and everytime when someone talks about medical stuff they look at me and they expect me to say something and then when I say the right answer they stare and they ask me to repeat and explain what that means :))
I really hope to get into medical school and become a CT surgeon :D

It just takes so long and so much commitment to become even a General Practitioner let alone a CT surgeon...seriously, good luck to you! If you manage to do it, you're a very special person.
It cuts into your whole life so much. Even at the moment, my boyfriend and I are planning on getting married but we don't want a long engagement, but we have decided it can't even be on the cards (financially) until he finishes his registrar-ship...your whole life has to be on hold for so long! By the time he finishes his training and we get married we would have been together six years and he'll be 31. The whole doctor thing effects your *whole* life so much.

Thank you:)
I know how much it affects your personal life and how difficult it is,but I love medicine so much. I cannot imagine myself doing something else. I would take the risk of becoming a surgeon, knowing that I am going to do something I really like for a long time.
It would be really great if I manage to become a doctor. Many people tell me that it will be hard and you must work and study long hours and you will not have time for anything else besides the 'hospital life', but I will try and do my best.
I am sorry for you and your boyfriend, though. It must be quite difficult for you two.

Talk about a Johnny-come-lately, but that's awesome for you grey's fan forever. Make sure you study really hard for your steps-1 exam because that determines your residency. As of yet, there hasn't been a CT-residency established by the RRC, for far it's a 2 to 3 year fellowship post GS-residency.
Make sure you score at least a 230+ to guarantee you a GS-residency during Match Day.
I'm an accountant with BS in accounting, but i'm taking pre-med courses and taking all the prereqs so I can sit for the MCATs and apply for med school. I'm also headed for the surgery-track and although the training is a long time, I think it's well worth it to save lives.
A little tip, if you know you are really going to stick with CT, make sure you apply for GS-residencies in hospitals that are ranked high in heart and heart surgery specialities.

I'm not in medical school yet, but i'm sure on my way. I plan on going into surgury, but I'm not sure what kind of surgeon I want to be yet. I love the show, think it's the best medical show yet.

Mcdreamteam, you'll figure out what type of surgical residency you want when you being clinical rounds in your third and fourth year of med school. The important thing is to score as high as you can in your second year of med school for your Steps-1 exam. That determines your residency, and if you score low, it lowers your options of what surg residencies you want. Currently, the RRC has approved these surg residencies:- general surgery- neurosurgery- OB/GYN- ophthalmology- ortho - ENT- plastics (2 methods)- urology
Most of the subspecialties like peds surg, CT, trauma, and surg onc are fellowship-programs after GS, even plastics is a fellowship post-GS if you don't elect the PS-residency method.
There are a lot of options, but when that second year of med school comes, aim high so you can get your pick of the bunch.
