Ok, before we continue on with season 5 I want to go back a little and discuss season 4. Ok well there are 3 topics I wanted to discuss: break-up sex, Rose, and the house of candles. I want to hear your opinions.
Break-up sex: Ok. This might seem like an odd topic but I think it’s really important. I think that the reason that the break up sex went on forever is because neither of them were ready or would ever be ready to let go. Then it sadly ended.
Rose: I HATE ROSE. Sorry, had to get it out. Ok well, as we all know, Derek was obviously only dating Rose as a way to accelerate Meredith’s readyness and out of pitty towards Rose. I mean Rose was head over heels for him like when she kind of exploded and went on talking to Lexie GREY about her loving Derek and how hot he was. I mean the only time Derek and Rose did the McNasty he was thinking about Meredith. No one in Derek’s life even liked Rose. Mark didn’t, and ADDISON Derek’s ex-WIFE didn’t. Sign??? Also when Meredith was ready just dumped Rose in 10 seconds.
House of Candles: Ok Confuzzled. I get the point of the house of candles. It was Meredith saying she was ready but why candles?

Coming from someone who has searched through season 4 with a fine toothed comb, I think that Derek was in the "break up sex" hoping that Meredith would realize how much she loved him and wanted to be with him. He had made it very clear to her that he was in love with her, he wanted to marry her, build a house with her, and have kids with her, etc, but he knew that Meredith was "still an intern" and she wasn't ready.
Meredith was in the "break up sex" because deep down she wanted to be with Derek, but didn't know how to. I think she struggled with her mother's words of being "extraordinary" in regards to being a surgeon and didn't realize that her mother wanted her to learn from her mistakes and balance career and marriage (which she failed at). So, thinking that she was doing what she thought her mother wanted her to do, she focused on being a surgeon because she wanted to make her mother happy. Instead her relationship with Derek crumbled.
The ROSE thing was a NIGHTMARE!! I think that Rose filled that void for Derek that he wanted from Meredith, which strangely helped Meredith get her butt to couseling and get all "whole and healed". Rose should have realized that she didn't stand a chance with Meredith's McDreamy.
Not sure what's up with the house of candles. It was very sweet and thoughtful on Meredith's part, but don't know it's significance.

i thhnk the only time i actually liked rose was then she was mad about derek dumping her.. and she told him she was pregnant... besides that i never really got her..
the breakup sex is obvious that they weren't ready to let go...

Break Up Sex: I don't think there is really much to talk about. You hit it on the nail when you said they weren't ready to let go.
Rose: Ugh all MerDer fans hated her. Including me...enough said. Although for the record I like the part when Mer and Der were doing there trail run together and Rose ask Derrick if he's ready to leave and Derrick turns to Meredith and says if you want me too I'll stay.
House of Candles: I think the writers picked candles because they are romantic, thoughtful, it obviously took her time to do all of that, it’s a “stupid, embarrassing, humiliating, corny thing” according to Mer, but to us viewers it shows passion and a step towards a real relationship. Real couples how romantic candle light dinners, not “sex and mockery only”. Remember how when Der and Mer were a real couple they had candles when they were in the tub together? Candles are just sweet, thoughtful, mood setting, and romantic. I mean if she lined the house with sticks or scalpels it’s not nearly as loving. Candles represent a real relationship and a real step forward.

I just realized something, so in the very beginning of Season 5 in Meredith's dream how would they know to page Meredith instead of Rose??

i think that christina had might have something to do with that.. or because of their past.. better yet.. if it's meredith's dream she was dreaming she had him and lost him..

Yeah I mean she did talk to Christina about dreaming of dead Derek. I BAWLED DURING THE DREAM EVEN THOUGH I KNEW HE WOULDN'T DIE!
