Cristina's Pregnancy a HUGE mistake or Life changing expierence?

    I've been a fan of Cristina Yang since day one. I love her character and to me she'll always be #1. When she got pregnant to Burke in season one, I knew for a fact she'd abort it. No questions asked. However, this time she's married and Owen would want this child. He does want it as a matter of fact and she doesn't.

    I think if Cristina had the child it would change her character completely and ruin her. I knew that this would some how become a deliemma in a future season or two, but this is actually a huge thing. I honestly didn't see it coming. Does anyone else think this is a HUGE mistake for her character of a life changing experience for her?

    I think is a life changing experience;

    Right Cristina is not the most mommy-ish characther but just because she's having a kid it doens't mean she'll start wearing an aprin and baking or making halloween costumes!

    Remember last season when she was stuck with that little girl all day? Maybe she'll change a little bit but she'll stay the same. Imagine her sitting in the couch watching surgeries tapes and Owen wearing a pink aprin feeding the kid in the high-chair. It could happen...

    Then picture her up all night trying to calm down a toddler; if  i remember season 2 well when she had to babysit tuck it was hilarious for who was watching but a hell for her, she eventually figured it out.

    Anyway all the characther's changed through out the years but motherhood won't change Cristina unless the fakes it so Meredith will give her surgeries again. (season 4)

    Surely a life changing experience... I like Cristina as a character but I like Owen too and I want her to keep this child and at the end I'm sure she will love it... Plus Owen would be a perfect dad...

    HUGE mistake.  I will be so disappointed if she ends up having this kid, if only because the only real options are A) having it because Owen wants it, which is a TERRIBLE reason to have a kid, and B) pulling a total 180 and deciding to keep it even though she's never wanted to be a mother and has never shown any tiny scrap of reaction that would suggest otherwise.  They've already done the 'reluctant parent for love' storyline with Arizona, with Cristina it would be both a rehash and horribly out of character.

    I don't think she should abort it because she has Owen and their both finaically stable. However, if she's not ready, she should be able to abort the child. I mean, hello, ever heard of the right to choose?

    If Owen forces her into this, I'd feel so sorry for her. But she has done the right thing and told him instead of aborting it without telling him. I'm proud of her for that. However, if he forces her into this, I won't be happy at all.

    I'm not particularly pleased with this storyline. I'm sorry but I don't see Cristina really experiencing some life-changing moment here. I know it's possible but she's no Charlotte King. Meaning, for PP watchers, that she's not the tough girl that is just scared to have a kid. Cristina, plain and simple, doesn't want one.

    I feel like she can't just have the kid because Owen wants it because that's a terrible reason to have a child. She can't keep it just because her husband wants to. And in the end it could turn out worse for the kid. However, at the same time, I can't imagine her aboritng it simply because she doesn't want it. I mean, can she really justify aborting her child, while being in a committed relationship with someone who wants it, simply because of her career?

    And I really don't see her having a 180 turn and suddenly embracing the role of motherhood.

    I don't know how this could work out well but I'm gonna trust they know what they're doing.

    Thank you @Catilyn.I completely agree. I don't wanna get on the abortion topic, but if Cristina doesn't want it, it's her decision. If Owen loves her, he'll respect it. However, I get his point because I would want my wife to have it, so yes, it makes me a hypocrite. HOWEVER, he knew what he was getting into with Cristina. He knew she didn't want kids. She even mentioned it in the OR once in season 6 with Teddy and another cast member present.

    I know that Cristina could be a good mother, because she's a competitor, which means she'd try. HOWEVER, Cristina as a mother is a no go. I just cannot happen.

    In a sense it is true that Owen knew what he was getting into with Cristina. We all know that it's never been in her plan to have children so Owen should understand that. Although I think that now that the she's pregnant, it's different. This whole story could really tackle abortion so it'll be very sticky I think. I'm just not a fan of this development as a whole. I think Owen and Cristina need to talk about the different things that they want for themselves and their futures together but I feel like this discussion will include abortion a lot so it's not as appealing anymore.

    Cristina being a mom, it will come from her desire to succeed at everything but who knows how far that desire will go and whether it'll result into something good or not.
