Formula 1 chat

Hey, for my friends from the Spoiler Free board (and anyone else who wants to talk F1 to keep us busy when our Grey's season ends...) here is a new board. Since we are starting here, I will introduce myself again...
I am a 35 year old mom of 3, live in western NY (after a long time in Vermont). I am obsessed with Grey's anatomy, and Patrick Dempsey if my favorite (I am riding a 100 mile bike ride in his Dempsey Challenge this fall http://tinyurl.com/cwlo5f but also love Formula 1. I was a huge Schumi fan, and now am kind of just a fan of the sport as no one person in particular has my whole attention in the current drivers. I like them all for the most part (except for Alonso who I think is too cocky, and more recently I am not thrilled with Lewis Hamilton either. I was thrilled when Montoya left for Nascar, I think he belongs in Nascar more). It is fun to see different folks win for a change. I have liked Button since he started and it is good seeing him come into a good car and team this year. I still pull for Ferrari, as from the time I started watching, they were my favorites, but they kind of have their heads up their rears these days...
So, any thoughts about the last race? I think Ferrari screwed up qualifying AGAIN by not sending Raikkonen out more. They seem to have not noticed that they are not at the top anymore and can't just coast into the top 10 of qualifying. As for the race...the crash was crazy, and then there was still debris all over the track when they started back. I am surprised there were not more problems from that. Webber seemed to have a quiet day and then, POW, there he was on the podium. I like Webber too. He is a bit whiney, but I love the cute accent and he is also nice to look at....

yay! marriedmymcdreamy -I'm so happy that you started a F1 forum. Now we can chat without distrubring our spoiler free buddies.
For any new comers: I'm 18 years old, in my first year at university and I live in Australia. I love greys to a point where sometimes I can't be civil with my friends and also love to read and watch Auzzie Rules Footy. I've watched F1 ever since I was little and my dad got me into and thus I loved Schui, I did like Lewis Hamilton up until the start of the 2009 season when at Albert Park he stated that someone cheated - made me lose all respect. Have to say I still do like Barichello as he was a Ferrari, I love Jensen Button and am happy that he finally arrived at a good car, and I feel obliged to support Mark Webber as he is an Auzzie.
Last race was good. I agree about Ferrari screwing up their qualifying - it seems to keep occuring at every race this year to an extent that they can't finish very high at the end of the race. The crash at the start was pretty spectacular, it reminded me of the Auzzie Grand Prix a few years ago when Barichello crashed his Ferrari at the first turn into about 3 cars. I'm also suprised that all the junk on the road didn't puncture more tyres, it was all over the track and they couldn't get it off fast enough before they came around again!

Great idea for all F1 fans!
I'm 17 years old and I live in Croatia. My favourite in F1 is Ferrari (it think Massa is pretty good). But I still miss Schumi! He was the best. Maybe one of the best F1 drivers ever! The only driver I hate with passion is Lewis Hamilton- I just hated him when he started racing in F1, when he was always fighting with Alonso, although they were in the same team.
I like how the things are going this season. It's good that someone new took over the lead, because it was too boring before, when Ferrari dominated. It will be an interesting season. Brown GP has good cars, and it's great that Button has found good team. He just didn't have much luck until now. I think he'll win the championship this year.
So, what are your favourite F1 circuits? I really like Monaco, because they drive through the city, and it's always an interesting race there. I still can't forget the race in 2006. when Schumi deliberately crashed his car so Alonso can't win any points. I was the most interesting race I've ever seen!

Oh, I LOVE watching Monaco. If I could ever go to another race, that would be the one I would pick. I went to the one in Montreal one year while we lived in Vermont, it was only a few hours away. If they bring back the US circuit, I hope they go back to Watkins Glen. It is a pretty close for me (well a couple of hours anyhow). I like to watch Montreal too, because I have been there and watched it in person, so I can imagine it better while watching on tv if that makes sense.
Schumi I think, whether people loved him (like me) or hated him (as I have heard some people did) is undeniably one of the best ever. I watched a race more than once and heard them tell him over the radio "Ok Michael, we need you to go 5 seconds a lap quicker for the last 5 laps" and he just did it, and won. My favorite ever was the Austrian Grand Prix in 2003 I think. His car caught FIRE in the pit lane during his stop, and he just sat in there calmly, they put out the fire and he went on to win the race! He is just something special when it comes to race cars drivers. I have heard great things about him as a person too. He ranks pretty high on my favorite celebrities list.
I remember that race at Monaco that you are speaking about Jelena. Very interesting!
My husband is a big F1 fan, and he has the PlayStation 3 Formula 1 game and the driving chair/steering wheel and I love to play it. I am not great at it, but it sure is fun to kind of see what it is like to be in an F1 car.
Yep, I bet Button and Brawn will win it this year. I would like to see Ferrari at least have a bit of a better showing though. Kind of sad to see them with only 6 points between them after 5 races!

Message to "marriedmmcdreamy":
Hey, I was reading your intro to yourself above...very interesting. I know you are on this site a lot and I always enjoy reading your "caption" ideas...you have such a great sense of humor. Also, I usually always agree with your comments about the show. You are very articulate and obviously very intelligent. I love reading your posts.
What I keep wondering is: how do you find the time to be on this site so much (early morning, late at night) when you have 3 kids, are married to a wonderful man (obviously since you are called "marriedmymcdreamy") and you have so many interests outside of marriage and kids. You must be one of those "A-type" personalities that are always doing, doing, doing. (My husband is like that and I find it hard to keep up with him!) When my kids were young I never had time to do any of the things you do (biking, racing, traveling, etc.). There was always homework to help them with, school projects, sports, playdates, housework, ect. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. I'm just in awe of how you seem to fit everything in. Well, keep up the good work. And keep talking about Grey's!!!!

Sorry I forgot the "y" in "marriedmymcdreamy". I need to use spellcheck more often!

wannabemer - LOL, I get on ealy in the morning when my kids are either still sleeping or the older two are on the bus and the younger is still sleeping, and then throughout the day when they are busy with other things. They are at the point now where we are not supposed to help with their homework, so I don't have a lot of homework duties right now. Today, one girl is at Grammie's for a sleepover, one is at a friend's for a sleepover and my little guy is playing outside while my mcdreamy husband is mowing the lawn.
And, I hate cleaning! So, when I am in the middle of laundry or cleaning every day, I give myself frequent internet breaks to make it less painful...And, after they are all in bed, I use the internet as my wind down. I don't sleep a lot. Insomnia runs in my family...My husband is a worse type A than me, so I guess I don't even realize that I am type A until people point it out. I call him the energizer bunny and just try to keep pace with him I guess.

Ps - I also have cable modem, so I am always connected, and usually leave this forum up...
Glad you enjoy my comments too.
