Timeline in years?!?

   Hi everyone:

   I have watched the program from season 1 till the last episode and i just have one question:

   - From season 1-3 ..how many years elapsed?? I ask because George failed his intern exam and he has to stay behind just to start all over with merideths little sister Lexie Grey...But how much younger is lexie??Has one year elapesed or 4..I just thought that lexie was a lot younger than merideth...So this is very confusing.....So much happened in the first 3 seasons that i cant imagine only one year elapsing ....now 4 years is more understandable...

   -Season 4..it seems like so much is happening so fast that i just weant to know how much time is passing?..:)

   I think it was one year between season one and the end of season 3. If I remember right, Internship only lasts a year. So much did happen. Expecially to meredith! She almost blew up (2.16/2.17) she had apendecitis (3.04) she almost died (season 3) Her mom and step momd died. Plus within a year, addison has shown up, got comfortable and left!

   You have a good point about Lexie though! All i know is that Molly is 23 I think, and lexie is older than that. So I really don't know.

   Wow this is confusing...

   Okay, Here's what i think...

   Seasons 1-3 was one year. You med school when you're about 25 or 26. Which means they were about 25 or 26 when they started their internship. On yeaar later, they were either 26-27. So Lexie would be either 25 or 26 in her first year also. That makes her older than Molly, and younger than Mer.

   The thing that weirds me out is Mer's parents were devorced when she was 5 or 6ish. Wouldnt Lexie be a lot younger than her...not just one year.

   If 1-3 was 1 year, then it also makes more sense regarding meredith and derek. For if they were off/on, long glances in elevators etc, for 3 years it becomes a bit silly, whereas 1 year is more realistic for a relationship to develop.

   Meredith is at least 30. Meredith mentioned in a recent episode that her & Sadie weren't 25 again & sleeping their way across Europe anymore. Also when she spoke to Ellis 5 years have passed since their fight & she didn't go to Europe until after that fight. She didn't go to medical school until after she got back from Europe & she came back early because her mother got sick.

   "She told you. I've known you my whole life, I grew up with you so I know what you're thinking. That there is a year of your life wasted. Trying to make it work with Addison and you could have been with Meredith. That you could be happy right now. That all of this, everything... that you and Meredith could have had a real chance. Still, I thought you should know the truth. I thought I owed you that, as a friend."

   From this I would say that season 1/2 is a year on Grey's...

   Meredith is 31. She was always written as the oldest intern .She did not go to Med school straight away (Mer's lost years ??)

   Lexie is 24 . It is possible to do BS/MD in 7 years and she skipped a year of High School
