Calling all Gizzie Friendship (or more) Fans!!!
-
One of my favorite moments was S1E9 when George was in the bathroom looking through that big book about skin irritations and Izzie was accusing him of doing something... naughty ;-)
The linen closet (awfully cliche, yes, but it was still very emotional), their elevator kiss, their little chemistry scenes LOL (I'm not perverted, they were good scenes, IMO), S1E2 when Meredith told them they could move in with her and they started dancing, when they were doing the shower scene (George's dream), when he was in the shower and Izzie kept barging in on him and in the end when she was brushing her teeth with his toothbrush.
I could go on for hours, but I'm pretty sure I'd override the GBs on the site and make it crash :-P George is why I watch, and Izzie and him are just so wonderful together as best friends and as lovers, IMO. They have amazing chemistry, and in real life they are adorably sweet and funny.
If you ever get the chance, watch the pilot with the commentary on with T.R., Katie and Sandra. It's hilarious :-P It's so cute how T.R. and Katie tease each other.

Oh thanks for this thread. I mostly post on Fanforum, we have a HUGE Gizzie fan thread there (come join us if you want), but I have posted sometimes here and I am so glad there is so much love for George and the Gizzie friendship here.
I am a fan of both their romance and their friendship, and in my wildest dreams, I never thought if they broke up, we would lose the friendship too.
I fell for them when Izzie apologized and ask him if she emasculated him and he said : I am too masculine to be emasculated, then they did that super cute little bump and both smiled.
I loved their hug in season 3. It seemed to bring George back to the land of the living for the first time since his dad died. It was so moving.
The linen closet scene, just wow, wow. I fell for them as a couple back then.
The scene where Alex plastered her naked photos and George tried to shield her.
I have so many great memories. It breaks my heart they barely talk anymore. I miss them and I miss George. I started watching for MerDer but George, sweet wonderfful smile is what kept me watching.
I hate that he has become barely a ghost.
TR and all the George fans deserve better

drcookchick-- I knew you were a big George fan and a Gizzie friendship fan-- so glad to hear your a Gizzie romantic fan too!!! Sometimes people are touchy about that (fans that really want AI together) and it's always hard to tell. It's bizarre to me that some people were so respulsed by the thought of them romantically-- I think they're chemistry is FANTASTIC!!! How can anyone dispute the intesity of that kiss in the elevator? And the scene in the linen closet when not a word was physically spoken, but so much was said emotionally. I have to say, though, I think it's fantastic that so many fans that don't necessarily like Gizzie as a couple have spoken up about missing their friendship!! That's exactly what we need-- I don't think we have a chance of getting the romance back anytime soon, but we should have a chance to get the friendship back with all the fans pulling for it!!! Shonda needs to hear and to let George and Izzie shine together again. The chemistry between Katie and TR is intoxicating, I think! This week I'm gonna go rent the pilot DVD and switch the commentary on. Thanks for that tip-- now I'm really looking forward to watching that! TR and Katie must have such a great friendship b/c their chemistry is SO great! I was watching an old clip of him on the Ellen Degeneres show and he was talking about the dog that Katie and her Mom got for him-- so cute hearing him talk about her!
Mem4--
Thanks for your post and for joining us! I'm gonna check out fanforum's Gizzie thread-- sounds like I will fit right in!
I too got started watching the show for MerDer (I joined in S2 and then later went back and watched from the beginning again) and then completely fell in love with George and Gizzie. I'm still a huge MerDer fan, but my favorite is definitely George. I like the scenes you brought up-- Izzie asking if she emasculated him-- that whole scene! And George shielding her from Alex's nastiness with pinning those pics up.... I am so inspired now to go back and watch again. I haven't gone back and watch old epis in a long time. Last time I did it I approached from a MerDer perspective. And since I hadn't seen S1 first, until after S2, going back is when I really fell hard for Gizzie. I think I've gotta watch again-- to soak up all those Gizzie moments. Maybe it will pass the Gizzie-empty time that Shonda is torturing us with. I don't get it. Even the haters liked their friendship. How can their friendship we one of the biggest relationships from the start and then just get dropped, like it never existed??? How can Shonda do that??? She wouldn't have done that to Mer and Cristina!!!
I loved the repeat from S4 last week. Now that was a random repeat well worth the watch. The scene when George was telling Izzie that he still looks around the room for her to see if she's laughing when he hears something funny, even though she's not there-- oh, that scene just melted me!! And Izzie loves him so. She knew he needed to find his place, since his footing was so lost w/ having to repeat his internship and she just told him he should go.
Melted like butter!

I kinda wish Izzie and George had worked on having a relationship.. sucks it ended before it started. I definitely loved their friendship and we need to see more of it. Even when they dated other people, they still had time for each other. I really hope neither of them are leaving!
Bring back the friendship. (:

OK, one more post before I go (I'm really gonna be kicking myself in the *ss later-- Monday's are so nuts for me in the afternoon, and my surfing time this a.m. is going to put me behind!!!)
Gizzie friendship video-- scenes that are forgotten. Shonda has forgotten. Yes, I'm gonna be annoying and post them elsewhere on this site, to make sure everyone sees b/c so many AI fans miss the Gizzie friendship too-- we have to make Shonda hear us!!

greysaddiction -- I started watching in mid season three (saw brief moments of "Where The Boys Are", but got hooked after seeing "Six Days pt. 1") and had right away noticed the chemistry between George and Izzie. I had hoped they were gonna hook up, and whaddaya know! A few episodes later they did LOL. I started watching season one reruns on Lifetime and fell hard for the show, primarily their friendship (although I was a pretty big MerDer fan back in those days).
Even if they can't get back together as a couple, I would be forever happy if they could have that friendship back. I miss the days of them all living in Meredith's house. It was funny and cute. Maybe Shonda will see all the peoples' posts wanting the Gizzie friendship back and she'll respond? It'd be a miracle.
Well, I'm off. School!

thanks greysaddiction!! (:
Does anyone really know why Shonda has diminished their friendship so much? I mean the show still focuses on all the same characters and storylines except for George.. I don't get it! :(
~wishful thinking that she'd read this thread..
