My theory behind the fight is this:
Lexie tells Meredith about her and Sloan.Meredith tells Derek.Mark finds out the Lexie told Meredith.Mark tells Meredith about the engagment ring.Derek finds out Mark told Meredith, and then he starts the fight.
I read somewhere that it has something to do with Lexie... and Derek is mad at Addison. Can't wait to find out!!

At the end. it was about Lexie. Shonda made us think that it's something a lot deeper, but... Although it's clear that it was about Jen's husband calling Derek a murderer, and Slexie thing was just the straw that filled the glass. Poor Der, I felt really sorry about him, he looked so miserable after the fight...

it wasn't all about Lexie... Mark just chose wrong moment to talk about how he's so happy with her- while Derek was crashed after failed surgery, and being called a murderer... I don't think that Derek would punch Mark in any other time... it was just to much for him at the moment.
