Wow, this is an old forum string! It's kind of cool that it started at the end of season two! And I love that in the very first post there is something about Izzie and Denny being over, which at the time seemed to be a safe bet since Denny did die, but actually wasn't true.
Anyways, I would be equally happy with a Merder or Lexzie wedding! I just hope that it is one of those couples and Shonda doesn't "pull a fast one" and get some minor characters or patients married instead. That would be a disappointment after all of this wedding buzz.

I definitely think that Mer/Der will be getting married by the end of the season. Izzie and Alex, I don't know. I know that we have seen the photos and other than Mer/Der they do make the most sense but Shonda recently twittered that fans would be happy for "unexpected" reasons and that just makes me nervous. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't go through with the wedding for some reason, either Izzie gets sicker at the last minute or she decides that this isn't the way that they should be getting married.
Having said that, I think KH is staying at least through next season and I don't see Alex and Izzie breaking up again. Or if they do, it will be brief. I don't see them entering into a relationship with anyone else.
All I want is for Alex to finally get some happiness in his life. Enough is enough.

I read someone's comment about how Izzie might just be hallucinating about a wedding she has (maybe with Denny), as she planned so much for MerDer's and in the episode outline for the 100th I think it says something like "She is experiencing familiar symptoms". That would make me sooooo sad!!! I really really want an Izzie-Alex wedding!
Don't make the two unhappy, I would cry so hard if anything bad happens to Izzie... *sigh* I just really hopes this works out right.Posted 4/27/2009 4:25:39 PM # -
what? I don't know whats the deal with Denny but I absolutely adore Alex and Izzie! Its so sweet whenever he planted a kiss on her forehead!

I'm bringing this thread back up because even though I really didn't like the cliffhanger ending of this episode, I thought that all of the Izzie/Alex interactions were great. I thought Izzie was cute in the beginning trying to show off her new husband and how uncomfortable Alex was, especially about the ring. I also liked the post it notes and how very Alex they were "Your memory sucks." ha! But my favorite scene, believe it or not, was the scene where Alex loses it and gets all of his frustration off his chest.
As much as I love sweet and tender Alex and I truly believe that this is a side that he has always had even if it was buried deep, I have been waiting for his anxiety and fear to bring out his "other side." I really felt for him in that scene. Izzie made him promise not to let her live on a ventilator or as a "vegetable." Well, she wasn't on a ventilator, but she was still someone who looked like Izzie but wasn't really Izzie, so what is he supposed to do? Kill her? Leave her? Obviously, those are things that he isn't going to do, but the alternative isn't great either, so he was pushing her to get better because at the end of the day she is his responsibility.
They got married because they thought that there wasn't much time left and because they love each other. I didn't see this as Alex saying that he wished he hadn't married her, but rather that they never discussed all of the legal and moral obligations and ramifications of this marriage and now Izzie's fate is legally up to Alex. I just found the whole scene to so in character for him and I like that the writers didn't shy away from it. Alex definitely has his caregiver mode and that goes back to his mom, but I think that anger is Alex's fall back emotion probably due to his childhood experiences and when he gets desperate and scared, it all comes out. And then of course he feels awful and regrets saying it. Its a pattern with him that I would love to see them explore next season.

I agree, their scenes were absolutely amazing. Hopefully they get to be a married couple next season. Maybe Izzie has to live on machines in the hospital bed and then we see how she is angry that Alex ignored her wishes and how he deals with that. Can't wait for season 6 IF Izzie lives!!!

in the season finale Izzie was recovering from surgery and starts making sounds or talking and Alex yells "Shepherd!"
i think she'll be ok then and they will get married~
