Lesbian Relationships

Why do the writers of Grey's Anatomy continue to shove this relationship down our throats.

I don't even like Callie and she is not a popular member of the cast.  I do like Arizona but their relationship is very uninteresting.  I have nothing against gay's but I wish they would quit shoving down our throats.  The writers have got to have better story lines than this.  Been there done that too many times.

Oppositely, I like the relationship between Callie & Arizona. That is love which doesn't matter sex but soul . Callie is hot and Arizona is awesome. When they are togather, it brings us the feeling of love...

I adore their relationship [Clearly by my username] . There isn't too many lesbian story lines on TV these days so I applaud the writers of Grey's for doing it and keeping Callie interested in women . Unlike some shows that throw away the idea and call it a "phase" .

Darice I kinda feel the same. And wanna know how come every freaking TV show shoves the straight relationships down my throat. But I don't complain. The Calzone relationship is trying to show everyone we aren't as different as alot of people think we are. We want the same things out of life. We want someone to love and care for us. It just so happens to be the same sex we are lookin for. And it isn't cause we are sick and twisted. We where born gay, we try and hide it and live miserable lives. And the youth sometime take there life cause they are so ashamed of who and what they are. So keep talking hate and not try to understand. And you are as bad as the person that takes a gun and shots someone in the head. Oh and by the way Callie and Sara Ramirez is very popular. Dont know how you didn't know that. You been living under a rock?

Callie has been one of my favourite characters ever since she became friends with Addison when she was still on Grey's. She's a wonderful character.

I love how they show this as a real relationship. It's probably the most mature on the program. They don't need to focus on their dirty dirty sex, they don't need to make them stereotypical lesbians and they don't need pretend drama.. Their storyline is lovely.

I can't believe anyone would think Callie and Arizona's relationship was being shoved down anyone's throat...

I think it is awesome - this is the first lesbian relationship on television that hasn't ended after like 5 epsiodes and although they had a small break up Arizona came back - just like in straight relationships they are carrying on through the series together <3

I love them together I just wish I could find someone that loved me as much as these two clearly love eachother and extremely well played and the chemistry is amazingly portrayed by the actress'

actually agree with the original poster. They do cram the Calzona relationship down everyone's throats. It's great and no one notices it if they are a fan of the actual pairing, but if you aren't it's frustrating. I like Callie. I don't however like Arizona and I wasn't pleased when she became a regular character. I enjoy her in the doctor aspect of the show but I don't think she is good for Callie. I think that is probably what makes seeing the excessive time that they get so frustrating. They don't in reality make a great couple...their issues would have broken any couple (gay or straight) in reality up a long time ago. I think it would have been more interesting if we seen Callie play the field a bit more before putting her in a serious relationship with the first gay character on there (after Hahn). I'd rather see Callie with a woman who actually has a tad more in common with her and who brings out the best in her character and I don't see Arizona doing that. My problem isn't with the lesbian relationship on the show, my problem is with the crappy lesbian relationship between two women who in reality would never be able to make their relationship work  be constantly in the forefront. It's like standing by your friend who is dating a person who is all wrong for them and having to watch them every single day, all day. My other problem is that most people only adore Callie and Arizona becaus they are in a lesbian relationship...and just like people shouldn't hate them because they are in a lesbian relationship, they shouldn't love them just because of that fact either. Instead of holding out for a great example of a lesbian relationship it forces people to settle for a mediocre one.

guess I can't edit. I also found it interesting that before Arizona was introduced there were a lot of people who absolutely loved Callie and Erica together, for the mere fact that they were lesbians I'm assuming. I actually liked them and preferred their romantic relationship over Arizona and Callie. I was a bit annoyed when they let go of the actress who played Hahn...more or less because she wasn't "pretty" enough to be in a relationship with Callie. Only then to replace her with the younger, chipper, prettier version of her. Then those same people who were in support of Erica and Callie suddenly became huge Calzona shippers and some of them even bash Hahn now which is just wrong to me. I think that it's just sad that so many people support this relationship that otherwise wouldn't be great...just because it's a lesbian one...and I think that it sucks that Calzona dominates the show a great deal of the time and isn't treated as realistically as other relationships for the mere fact in an attempt to appease a broader audience, to be trendy, and edgy...and cover homosexuality in the show.  It's so overt that they want to keep Calzona for the mere fact of having lesbians that they don't actually put much thought and great writing into them. IMO. It's like settling for less rather than the best and applauding them just for having this relationship for the sake of having it rather than giving it the best that they have and treating it like the other relationships in the show. It makes it come off as a blantant ploy and for me personally it illicits the adverse reaction.

whoa what?!callie and arizona are awesome!their relationship feels just as right as merder's!they make a great couple and i absolutely do care about them and their storylines!it's got nothing to do with them being lesbians, although that leads to interesting storylines (like same sex marriage), but with them being great together and having great chemistry.

I've loved Callie from early on, and hated the storyline that had George cheat on her.  But I think the relationship with Arizona is very genuine and lovely. Callie has remained the open, honest character she has been all along, and the relationship is one of the most mature and believable ones on the show, imho.
