I am a little bit new to this website, just the last couple of weeks, but have been reading a lot of the postings from other fans of Grey's Anatomy. There have been some postings from those who have written that they don't like Meredith and think she is whiney and prefer Derek and Addison together. I just have to say I disagree. Just recently I watched a marathon of GA, all of season one and two, getting ready for season three. When you look at everything she has gone through, Meredith has a right to be weepy from time to time. Her father is absent and actually has a whole other family that she is not a part of. Her mother has alzheimer's and doesn't even know who she is most of the time and yet Meredith is completely responsible for her. Even as a child, her mother put her medical career ahead of her daughter. Meredith fell in love with Derek in complete innocence of his marriage and then when she found out, he decides to stay with his wife and give their marriage a try, flaunting his marriage in front of her daily. I'm not sure that I would be able to continue to be the support for Izzie and Cristina that she is, do an outstanding job at my job at Seattle Grace like she does, and put up with all of the gossip that she has had to put up with, and still stay sane. I say, you go Meredith! Hang in there. Derek has finally come to his senses and realizes that you are the love of his life. The age difference doesn't bother me at all, because Meredith is older than her years and Derek is younger than his. I love the tenderness between them and sometimes the troubles make the time together even sweeter. Obviously the chemistry is there and never died which is what made the scene at the prom a relief. They couldn't deny their attraction and love for each other any longer. Meredith and Derek are a great couple. I am cheering for them to be happy together.Posted 10/2/2006 1:00:00 AM #

This was a huge topic on the Grey's Anatomy Online (another, but not as good, Grey's Anatomy fansite) forums. People have the right to like/dislike any character they want. I personally do like Meredith but I definitely see why others may not. Like all of the characters on GA, she is quite flawed, and that makes her very realistic. As for the age issue, I'm not sure what you mean. I don't recall anyone's age, specifically Derek or Meredith's being mentioned at all during the show. I think that Mer and Der are soul mate and age is never and issue. I believe that that the love triangle that happens beetween Mer, der and addison is what makes it more intresting and now the tringle between Mer, der and Finn is good. I dont know the whole story as i live in England and have not seen all of season two but i have to say the clips i have seen of season two and three have made me laugh and cry.
