Meredith and Lexie GREY

   Why does Lexie have the same last name as Meredith?

   Meredith Grey is daughter of Elis Grey and that explains her last name.

   But Lexie doesn´t have anything to do with Meredith´s mother, Elis (and she had Grey as a last name before she got married with Lexie´s father.)

   So, I don´t get it. Why do they have the same last name?

   @Ana - Mer and Lexie's dad is Thatcher GREY .Grey was Ellis' married name .M&L 's little sister is Molly Grey- Thomson.Lexies's mother was Susan Grey
