Alzheimer's Trial

A new scoop reveals that Alex will be assisting Derek for at least one episode in the clinical trial, even though I read another scoop a while back which revealed that Cristina will be the final choice.

Of course Derek choosing Cristina would make Mer jealous, since Derek is spending all of his time trying to cure her PTSD, but Alex would also probably really bother her. Alex is very obviously peds, and Meredith's really good friend, and didn't do anything to save Derek's life (not that he was able to, just that Meredith wouldn't see any reason for Derek to pick him). Thoughts?

Personally, I really don't think that Mer should be jealous about who's working with Derek on this trial. Whether it be Alex of Cristina, for me, it shouldn't bother her because it's only logical that she isn't the one working with him.

Caitlyn, once again I agree with you. Mer has no reason to be mad/jealous etc at Der. Why would SHE assist him. First of all the case would be too personal for her....her mother had Alzheimers....and Mer herself even got tested for it, which goes to show, that deep down inside she is worried she may get it. Der already has personal ties to this trial, which is bad to begin with, having Mer helping him would not only distract him, but lead him to think more with his emotions then with his brain. So I am all for Mer not being the one working with him. Agreed :)

On the sides for 716 it shows that Meredith will be working with Derek on the clinical trial. Cristina is only going to help him for one episode, then Alex and then Meredith.

Maybe Derek gets over his clouded judgement and realize that even if he doesn't work with Meredith, he is still can't be objective.
According to the sides most of the case are either a husband who has ALZ and the wife who take care of him or the wife who has ALZ and the husband who takes care of her. If Meredith get ALZ that would be Derek's case, so every patient is going to remind him of the possibility of Meredith getting ALZ. So objectivity was thrown out of the window when he decided to find a cure fo ALZ, to save Meredith from it.
Derek is just fooling himself thinking that keep Mereidth out of the clinicla trial is going to keep him objective, it won't because his reasons for doing the Clinical trial are personal.

@ana, I agree, but I still don't think Mer should be on the case, I feel like she may get too emotinally involved as well, but I'm sure we'll find out. BY THE WAY is anyone else as PISSED as me at ABC for postponing Private Practice until February 3rd...and showing Off the Map AGAIN!!!!! I watched it last night, and it was OKAY, not great, but OKAY....but they are going to LOSE people that WOULD of watched the show, by placing it in the timeslot of Private Practice which already has a HUGE established fan base! UGH!

I know what you're all thinking but let's face the truth: Meredith should be the one working with Derek on this Alzhimer's trial because the Alzhimer's will not only effect her but him as well. He will have to be in all these people's shoes when it comes time for Meredith to deal with the Alzhimer's. Their marriage will have to suffer the facts of the Alzhimer's when Meredith gets it.

Lexie: Mark, I'm dying. Please tell Meredith I love her and that she is a good sister.
