GLOBAL JOY
-
Thanks Captain Canada, and I'm very sorry to anyone I might have offended. -- On Heroes: I read an article about a comparison between 24 and Heroes where the main differance picked upon was the political and patriotic veiwpoint. It said Heroes is more appealing because instead of an almighty government loved by all characters the president and politics in general are displayed as untrustworthy... I don't know if this contunues into the second series (not having seen it) but I was wondering if that was part of the appeal... -- I've got to say having seen the 5th series of 24 the patriotism does seem a little excessive but maybe that's just me...Posted 12/8/2007 6:33:14 AM #

For me, that's where a lot of the appeal lies. I'm glad you pointed that out AH. It's fun to compare the ideaology of certain shows like that. I'm not anti-american (being Canadian doesn't automatically make someone un-american, does it?) I just don't think it's right to be patriotic for patriotics' sake.....which puts me in agreement with a lot of what Anu naki said. By portraying big organizations like the "company" (which could symbolize the U.S. Gov't - or any failing government) as untrustworthy, Heroes has helped fans become aware of this lurking enemy......that their intentions and motives aren't always truth, justice and the American way.
Ahh, I looked up and was reminded that the topic was "global joy" and I've taken it down the dark path of conspiracy theories. Please forgive me everyone - I will try to get back to the original subject by saying.......g'ddamn!! Claire is HOT!!!! She was the ultimate global joy when she went on that heroes tour after season 1. I wish she was a little older............ and liked me.

And how in the world did I become a marketing outlet for 'Sears'? I typed in the word "wish" in the last sentence of my previous post and when you mouse over, it pops up a freaking musical Sears advertisment!!! What is this world coming to????

Is the extent of the production also a draw? it's obvious they have spent a lot of money on the show and it's hard to know if it would have been as successful if this kind of finance hadn't been put into it. is it just the characetrs and the plotlines that are the draw or is it also the scale?
