The writers have no idea where it is going. S1 felt like they knew the whole story before they began to write it. And now it just feels like it's being made up as they go along: new characters are introduced then dropped after a couple of episodes and there is no momentum towards any plot. It could be a great show, but it's simple crap right now.
p.s. and it seems like the production quality is going downhill.
i appreciate that they are bringing in people with disabilities like the female doctor but her character is pathetic and for the first four episodes went nowhere. now she has just disappeared (which i'm glad about). i still enjoy the show but with 115 arcs in the show nothing gets resolved.
This weeks espisode actually had glimpses of hope... but this season including the first half of it has been painful to watch.
To the earlier comments, "if you dont like it dont watch it" ...
I think the reality is we liked the show so much early on in Season 1 and 2, but since the writers strike it has gone downhill. We're holding out that the writing will improve or the current state of the show will take a dramatic turn. There has been nothing dramatic or shocking in the last couple of seasons (two heroes battling it out to near death) .. Nothing major has happened since Nathan's death, before or after.
When Isaac was alive and was able to predict the future with his elaborate comic book drawings, hell even during the future post apocolyptic shows when good heroes went bad, or Hiro's time travel and encounters with the immortal Adam "kensei" Monroe - there was something mysterious and unpredictable about the show that kept me watching week after week.
This season and the past season I've found myself watching episodes on the DVR, FFW'ding past the painfully BORING carnival dialog and sequences that all end up in the same place!
No I'm not happ with the show in its current or recently air'd state, but I am holding out for improved writing... the cast are actually decent actors when you throw them a bone or two.
I would suggest that the show be moved now to a different network with a different executive producer and better writing staff. Such as TNT or SyFY, hell even USA.
Smallville have been running for quite a while. How about those writers?
I don't understand Peter's power throughout the series. Nobody seems to want to talk about it, but it's one of top inconsistencies that makes less and less sense with every show. He used to be able to absorb powers, and collect them just by being next to someone else with a power. He somehow lost his power, I can't even remember why or how - it seems each character has lost and regained their powers a few times. Now he can only have one power at a time, and he gets it by touching another "hero", and a wierd light and sound effect takes place.
Don't even get me started on the stupid carnie crap and the stupid compass tattoos! What the hell! Oh, and if somone has a power to know what others want, than they can inject themselves with tattoo ink that forms into fortune telling pictures? I said don't get me started!
It's so sad. The first season was so great. I wish the writers would apologize for every season after and say that they were just kidding and start from season 2 again.
@ Peter: Peter lost his powers back in S3, his dad took then away from him.
Please please, just stop that show. The plot sucks, the story is boring.
First season was good the rest was like a meal warmed up 150 times.
What is the point of the stupid carnival? If only they would drop that entire failed subplot. I still watch every week hoping for an episode without Samuel but he is always there ruining what used to be a great show. I miss Peter and Sylar being the center of the show. Samuel is the worst character ever.
