Possible solution to Peter's power problem...

Yes. Yes it was.

Samuel told Peter on the gurney that he wanted him to empathize for him "being" on the bus sending him down the right path. I think by empathizing with Emma he will get his original power back much like Sylar gained power when he was good in season 3.

Peter is a bit more interesting as a character who has to think about what power he wants to absorb. It is fun to have a villain that is all powerful, but it is hard to relate to someone like S1 Peter. It is one of the major criticism about Superman, he is TOO powerful. As far as the tattoo goes, I imagine it is just a means to increase Samuel's power. He can use this ink to strangle them or do whatever else from a distance (which I guess he could just open up a sink hole, but that has to get boring after a little while)Posted 10/16/2009 3:14:16 PM #

I think Brad might be on to something. Sylar was able to "learn" empathy; so why not Peter? I do think an all-powerful character can work, and did in S1, if done properly. Having powers is one thing. Using them in the right way is something else all together. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. The interest is in watching a character deal with that, or, as in S1 Perter, how to simply deal with the fact that he is a supernatural sponge soaking up all this energy around him, and then taking that and using it for good. It would be pretty easy to make an argument that Sylar is an interesting character and he is all powerful.

im loving all these ideas about the compass. i realllyyy liked Pyropuppy's idea. about it spinning outta control bc peters power is unpredictable so it cant really point a certain way. but i cant wait til peter's original power comes back. if it doesnt, i will still love the show, but i'll be highly disappointed.
I for sure think Emma is a key in his power coming back though. It's been a while since there's been any kind of relationship in heroes besides the weird sparks that seemed to be going on shortly between Tracy and Noah. and Claire's leasbian roommate which was definitely not a relationship spark.

I was thinking about what was said earlier, about Hiro and Peter going back and killing Arthur. Is that even necessary? Couldn't Hiro just take Peter back and just let Peter touch himself? Then they could time travel back and everything would be hunky dory!

Maybe Hiro will add that to his list of things to do.

If Hiro goes back in time and actually kills Sylar to save Charlie...will any of this matter?

Will he actually "kill" kill him, or just mortally wound him again like the end of season 1? Remember, Sylar had a lot of people interested in keeping him alive back then, as well as a lot of people who wanted to kill him. I seriously doubt that they would be killing off Sylar like that, but who knows?
Maybe they will kill him, but killing him will only start an alternate timeline, which the current Sylar will learn how to travel to. It would be really neat to see the writers tackle alternate dimensions, but given the complexities of the show I don't think it's very likely.

Anything could happen. Hiro could rescue Charlie and that could just cause Sylar to find Claire sooner and kill her before Peter has a chance to get in the way. And with invulnerable Sylar, the Season 1 finale would be very different.

Sylar: I can't bring Nathan back Peter, but I can sure as Hell swing a sledgehammer.
