it would have to be carefully timed between meeting future hero and saving claire, cus we all want his bad ass scar. and Ravenhill, though peter in that time didn't know he had hiro's power, our peter would know, so it would be fine :) would also like to point out that he would have Charles Devaux's power... did we ever find out what that was? and why didn't Simone ever exhibit a power? with the exception of Nathan (who got an artificial power) every other child of a company founder has had a power? Caitlin file you think?

Maybe Charles married an ordinary human. But Nathan was born ordinary too, until they gave him the formula, so thats proof that in some cases, people with powers do have normal kids. Charles was a nice guy, so he probably didn't want Simone injected. And being a nice guy, he probably didn't get along with arrogant Arthur, especially since Charles seemed to have a thing for Angela in 1961. So maybe Arthur stole Charle's power. That would explain why Arthur was a telepath and also why Peter didn't have that power until he met Matt Parkman.

I thought Charles' power was similar to that little kid Mohinder met in India, in that he could projcet himself into other people's dreams? Or soemthing along those lines. One thing we also have to remember about S1 Peter is he probably possessed more powers than even he knew. He was like a sponge. just being in proximity to someone would have been enough to get him a person's power, and if he didn;t know that person had an ability he may not realize he had the power. Kind of like how he found Claude by accident.

As for the offspring of people with abilities, there is no rhyme or reason to it. I would theorize that the same way two brunette parents can have a blonde kid, two "specials" can have a normal kid. Or a person who can fly and a person who can manipulate fire can produce a kid who can regenerate. It's a genetics crapshoot. The Parkmans seem to be the only ones who have passed a similar power on from father to son. Oh, and I guess Arthur Petrelli/Peter Petrelli, assuming Arthur's empath ability wasn't synthetic.

So, I just checked the heroeswiki.com site, and it says that Charles' known ability is Telepathy.

While I was there I also decided to look up "Caitlin" this is what I found:

"As Caitlin remains trapped in an alternate future that does not occur, her fate has yet to be determined. The writers were to reveal her fate in the original Volume Three: "Exodus", but "Exodus" was shelved and replaced with "Villains" due to the extra long hiatus created by the Writer's Strike in America."

I can only imagine how awesome this "Exodus" volume would have been, especially since it was supposed to be there in place of Villains.  If only Hiro could go back in time and prevent the writer's strike from ever happening....

Aha! I knew about Exodus but I never knew about Caitlin coming back.

But yeah, the writers strike threw them off, and as a result they seem more content to just forget season 2. Most, if not all, of the characters introduced are now dead or vanished. Ironically, one of the survivors is Maya, who was also the most useless. But Exodus apparently had plans for her too, since her power could destroy the Shanti Virus.

But yeah, Charles was a telapath. They showed it in 1961.

Kal, you make an interesting point with the possibility of Arthur's power being synthetic. In the graphic novel, when he first met Linderman in Vietnam, he thought Linderman was a freak, which showed that he was perhaps unaware of his own power, or didn't yet have it. Either one is possible.

Thanks Ravenhill. Besides the graphic novel -- I don't recall Arthur being at Coyote Sands. Seems to me that would be a rather deliberate and obvious omission when we were given that little flashback of those young folks with developing abilities. It was Angela, Deveaux, Bishop and Linderman.

See, it has been argued that people get powers that match subconsious desires. Daphne and Matt brought it up in Villains when they gave Ando the formula. So if Arthur was hanging out with a bunch of people with powers, he'd develop an inferiroirty complex and so if he was given the formula, it is logical that his inferiority complex caused his new power to be the ability to take power.

    Does that make sense?
