I keep noticing that a lot of the episode quotes are not exactly right. Some that really bothered me because the actual lines are really good;
"Tara: Sookie, let's go he is dead!
Sookie: No he's not. This (holds up goop) is what is left when a vampire dies." I don't remember the exact words but that's not what was said, and one from my favorite character;
"Sookie: Doing this? For the last six hours?!Eric: You seemed surprised. Is Bill's stamina not enough?" In this Eric actually says "not up to snuff", not "not enough".
If you're going to call them "quotes" then they should be word for word... Otherwise you should just call them "paraphrases".
"OH and Pam? ....those were nice pumps." Eric
"you make me so happy I had never any of you!" Pam
"OH come on, Pam. They're funny. Like humans but minituare. Tea cup humans." Eric
"Russell Leiginton." Magister
"You may call me king!" King of Mississippi.
Russell Edington** ^^
Well, I was close at least :-D The name thing is kinda hard to figure out if you're not a native speaker.
"Yes, thanks, i’m so happy i could bleed"
why are ppl just posting random quotes here... did anyone read the original post
@chair: Thank you... but really?!? We do the best we can do get the quotes right, but we type as we watch and, please remember, we do this all for the (FREE) benefit of our readers. Is there any other TV site out that that even offers immediate True Blood quotes?
Does "up to snuff" versus "not enough" change the meaning or humor of the quote in any way? Of course not. Give us a bit of a break here, please.
That said, always feel free to send in your favorite quotes each week to matt @ TVFanatic.com and I'll post them.
I understand the frustration with the misquotations, your response was a little unfriendly for someone just trying to give some constructive criticism. you have some OCD readers you gotta try to be understanding!!
@nb: Point taken. But the reader cited just two quotes, one of which I'm pretty sure is accurate (she didn't offer an altenative to the Sookie line.).
From my end, I work very hard, with a computer constantly on my lap throughout an episode, to transcribe as much as possible. I want to get the quotes up quickly specifically for those OCD readers. So I hope it's understandable that it can be irritating to read what seems like extreme nit-picking. As I said before, no other site even does this, we charge nothing for reading, it's all for the benefit of fans. I love when readers disagree on my reviews and offer their own thoughts on an episode - but, yes, it can be frustrating to have random words in random quotes picked apart.
That said, I fully appreciate all feedback and love that readers take an interest in the sections of our site. I never intend on being unfriendly and hope the original commentator sees my side and knows that.
