     I am preety sure Matt was willing to die not to save Tyler but to see his dead sister. I believe that was his main reason cause he didn't get to say goodbye to her.

     Tyler was not his only reason and Bonnie was trying to save Tyler too, Caroline step infront of Rebecca to protect Tyler too so Matt is not the only who tried to save Tyler. JS.

     and really opening the show how matt freeloads in the school gym, because he cant afford a gym membership lol
