    Yep, so true, mainly because the lead female character wasn't a weird low self-esteem girl with mental problems. Blouis was actually a good addition to the GG, I was one of those who shipped them hard, since I was getting tired of the Chair break-up/make-up circle, Blouis was a breath of fresh air to the show, it had potential, but then satan Safran's second right hand, Sarah Goodman decided to suddenly put Blair into a foursome, and try and make Chair epic again by letting Chuck hit Blair and Blair not feeling abused after it...

Then they kept eyefucking and snarking at each other, then they kept supporting each other, then they kept taking turns saving useless steffie again and again then they sat both by steffie's room when steffie was trying to get sober and then they danced in miss mystic falls. 

    </b>   and you don't call yourself a crackshipper?   I have never noticed any tension as Elena was really nonexistent to me on Season 1, until S2 and S3 came where I wanted to kill her with fire.

    must have been REALLY oblivious then.

    S1 DE reminds me of a bit toned down book DE with more boring elena. It was fucking shippable and awesome and in every moment you could feel that they have this kind of awesome connection of understanding and are gradually building up towards something more, revealing each other's hidden sides.

     

    come S2 and that is gone.

    Sorry, nope. Elena's characterization in S1 did not go against the ship(it started to in her mary sue years of S2) and Damon was never characterized as pure villain.

    SHE WAS MARY SUE IN S1. OH GOSH WHAT EVEN. ARE YOU OKAY? Just because she was likable and tolerable in it doesn't mean she WAS NOT MARY SUE. I don't even remember her kiking ass, all she did was pull out a pencil in the dance, while Caroline had to watch fucking Matt and half the town pay her uneccessary attention. she dressed like a hobo too. season one Elena:
