Actually, this is pretty sexist. This implies that women can only be equal with men in todays society. . . That technology was what they needed in order to gain equality.

Oh but technology wasn't needed when they finally got the right to vote, and as for abortion (which I assume is the technology) that's been a huge controversy for years and it still is, especially depending where you live. So either way they're still struggling for equality for that. And technology in China is doing the opposite since if the baby is a girl they'll probably make the woman abort.

Which are options today. But if the concept of gender discrimination needs to be applied in ALL ages, in ALL societies, otherwise it wouldn't have any meaning.

Options that the letter as well as show narrative neglects and ignores, glorifying the one and only marriage and the baby instead

Also for the second part of the sentence? Not sure on how that is even relevant. Just because gender discrimination is okay in some societies or the past, does not make it okay. The show was not made 30 years ago. It was made NOW.

You seem to be under the illusion that men and women are the same.

Yeah, I have this incredibly foolish notion that the capabilities and life directions of men and women are not defined by their reproductive systems. Silly and strange, I know.

What I said means opposite of that. Options are just that options. Are you implying that an independent working single female is somehow LESS equal or LESS viable option than married and with children ?Because that's bullshit.

^THIS^

Technology ONLY should ADD choice, but choice should STILL be in the hands of the woman herself whom the technology affects. Its not the capability to have an abortion, its about actually having a say in the matter, technology or not.

I still think the most sexist character is Klaus but that's JMO, and you would think that if someone's lived over a thousand years he would have gotten over his misogynism. Like just, the stuff he has said to Elena, Rebekah and Caroline entirely.

That is true.

But then again, NOTHING about the characterization of them makes any sense they lived for thousand years and yet they act like everyday teenagers? It did not make sense with salvatores and it does not make sense with originals.  Considering all the shit in history they lived through, their characters are just not believable.

Going by what Plec said overall, I guess she does not see any sort of misogyny or sexism in what Klaus is saying, so, yet again, it comes back to the writers.

What?! But I thought we were meant to see him as misogynist. I mean, what about that scene where he grabbed Rebekah when he saw her with Stefan in that flashback? Does this mean that she doesn't see what Kol says as sexist too?!  I can't believe it.

Klaus is apparantly a caring brother and Kol is "Playful murderous vampire" but nothing about sexism, lol.
