Miss Cardboard Sue "appreciation" thread.
^ This lol ♥
Yeah, Elena needs a personality makeover, not to mention a wardrobe makeover...seriously, I know there is a lot of creepy stuff happening in your life, but gosh, can't you find like 2 hours just to go shopping and by some decent clothes? No wonder Katherine was like "she has the worst style ever".
Aww you guys are sweet. Thanks for the welcome!. It's a "she", my name is Dani. Nice to meet you all. <3
While i don't find Damon's redemption arc moving and/or wonderfully written. He, at least, has one. And his character goes through a lot of changes.
Elena, on the other hand, not only has stayed more or less the same character for 3 seasons, but also, after every ambiguous act of hers, we get a bunch of characters talking abt how she is still The Most Wonderful Person Ever.
- She deprives Jeremy of his independence and any desicion-making power?. Damon tells her she’s a great sister.
- Bonnie calls her out on this?. Matt tells Elena that she is “an amazing friend”, in the final scene.
- She ‘backstabs’ Elijah. Elijah tells her, via a heartfelt note, that her compassion is a gift and that it’s not in her nature to be deceitful or some shit like that.
^^ This is not character development. The writers need to stop.
Welcome to the forum Plottogetyou. :)
Damon's character development is weak and unrealized. Originally, I believe the writers were on track in S1. The audience was interested in what motivated him to behave a certain way, but once he jumped on the cardboard train, it changed. It longer resembled a proper sign of characterization; it was muddled and indecisive.
Whereas Miss Cardboard is just simply there like a hood ornament we could sincerely do without. There is no progression, no sign or indication of growth personally. At the crux of this little debacle, she manages to maintain anfixed, indiscernible position which lacks the ability to engage any audience.
*manages to maintain a fixed, indiscernible position...
hi dani welcome
it's a little too late to redeem elena's character they should have done that on season 2 but they failed to do that, because they were so busy pleasing the DE and SE fangirls. So, instead of using Elena's character to do something useful in her life and other characters having a life of their own to achieve character development aside from being a centre of a love triangle and being an instrument to Klaus' sacrifice ritual. It is pretty disappointing really. I just watch the show for the hot guys now, because the show is just hopeless because they keep on shoving this piece of cardboard shipper pleaser Bella Swan Version 2.0 down our throats.
