Stefan was sorta boring compared to Damon in s1, but he owned s3 and PW needs to win the TCA. Girls don't forget to vote for him and fake your birth year if you're over 18. I personal Thought Stefan was never boring. It really annoys me when folks say stuff like that. They dislike Stefan for most of the series, but not like/love him. But only when the Ripper, I hate fickle fans like that.

yeah stefan has always being the better brother for me, but i couldnt imagine the show without damon, they could never kill him of without ending the show. i think just in s3 we got to see ahidden side of stefan, that we could have more realated to s1 damon, but it gives stefans character more history n journey to the way he is now and what he fights for. plus damon i couldnt realli see has a ripper, he likes the kill, without any motivation or somthing controling him, unlike stefan, its taking him 145 years to learn the art of moderation lol!!!

UGH...Yeah I can't stand that Stefan is boring argument. Here's what I said in response that little FB post lol I wonder if she'll comment back.
@Toni: Hi! I hope you don't mind if I respond to your post. I know that it was to Charlie, but I wouldn't mind saying some things. Truthfully when it comes right down to it--it's really a matter of opinion or preference when talking about which brother is more interesting. At the end of the day it isn't going to be a deal breaker for Elena when choosing. It's simply going to be about who she loves more. Personally I believe that both brothers have their interesting qualities. Damon is interesting for me because of the fight he has with his inner goodness. For Damon---being good means feeling the emotions that come with that and he doesn't want to feel because it hurts. Plain and simple. He uses his evil, or dishonorable intentions as a defense mechanism to hide what he so desperately does not want to show. It makes me feel for him at times but we all know Damon needs to face the music at some point. Now about Stefan. The fact that Ripper Stefan will forever be a part of him makes him automatically interesting. It's the idea that we know what Stefan is capable of. Just like we know Damon's capabilities of being good and being bad---the same can be said about Stefan. Except with Stefan there's more complexity there because just like Emily told him---"Even in death your heart is pure Stefan. That will be your curse"---He can also be a maniacal, ruthless, and detached killer. PW was once asked about the difference between Ripper Stefan and Damon. His reply? " Ripper Stefan is not a vampire you want to come across in a dark alley, but with Damon--you might be able to negotiate." There was also an article written that seeing what Ripper Stefan is capable of makes Damon look like a puppy. It's the fact that Stefan is pure of heart, but he is also the blackest kind of darkness. This makes him immediately interesting in my opinion because it's the purest side of him and the most evil side of him going head to head. We see Stefan love so purely, and be so selfless. But we also know of the Stefan that feeds so hard he rips up his victims, and we know of the Stefan that wrote his victim's names on a wall just so he could re-live the kill. Ummm....pretty evil right? He has these two polar opposite personalities that exist within him. It's one extreme, and then another extreme. The Ripper side of Stefan will forever be there sort of waiting in the wings and that immediately creates such a danger. So...no i'm sorry. I don't agree that Damon is necessarily the more interesting of the two. The fact that Stefan wrestles with the two extremes is in itself interesting. Stefan has proven that at his darkest he can be more dangerous than Damon. Pfft even Damon was scared of what Stefan might do in 3x11 telling Klaus "I know my brother better than anyone and right now I have no clue how far he's willing to take this so if he says blink--I suggest you blink." Stefan telling Damon "No. You wanna beat the villain Damon? You have to be the better villain." So the fact that Stefan's darkness has taken him to places that even Damon has never been speaks volumes. But then we have the Stefan that is good, and pure, and selfless. The Stefan that fights for his humanity even though it means feeling despair, anguish, and the worse kind of guilt imaginable. It's the Stefan that faces that pain EVERY DAY. The same kind of pain that Damon avoids like the plague. It's the strength that he shows by feeling that pain every minute of every day that makes him one of the strongest characters on the show. It's an EXTREMELY interesting character dynamic to say the least. But hey...it's just opinion right?

@Kay and Heather, thank you my darlings, I do feel better today, the sickness is slowly going away, and I am taking a break tomoro, have had enough of that torture...lol, @Heather, yeah, these days I am starting to think that an army of hybrids might not be such a bad idea....or have a vampire friend who could compel people for me ( there goes my ethical priniples!) but this is a thread about SE so lets get back to the discussion.
First of all,about the new characters, I really really do hope that I am judging ahead, but I just feel like we stil have so many characters that need to get explored before they bring in new ones..but I 'll wait and see
@Kay about Damon being good and everything, you know, I did love that moment when Damon and Rose were together for the time period of her dying and how he gave her the perfect dream to end it all...but I think what makes me not like about this Damon's goodness is that the writers are trying too much to make it look similar to Stefan's when it shouldn't, like with Elena, when she is trying to make him show people the good in him....I don't think it really suits him, I think it would have been much better if Damon's stronger aspects would be things like honesty, determination and emotional stability, I don;t want to see the writers go in the direction of here are two brothers with the same humanity if you can say so... I think Stefan's humanity is shown perfectly in terms of he understands and wants to preserve it, while Damon's humanity is kind of going back and forth and I can't really define it...this is what I don;t like about Damon as a character on the show, I think they should have maintained Damon as the darker brother in terms of his actions yet still maintaining some respect for human life when he understands that there is no need to attack and gamble with someone's life when things could be done another way. But instead what I am seeing here is the writers sort of making Damon into the tragic hero, yet the tragedy is felt as too forced on me...like, here is this poor guy who is good inside but feels he HAS to show everyone he is bad because he does not want to live to anyone's expectation's...I would have enjoyed seeing the tragedy in the fact that there is good in Damon, but he just does not want to show it because he just enjoys his darkness and nature more.
About Damon imagining Katherine in 2x22...hmmmm, what exactly do you mean here? That it sort of soreshadowed Elena's turning or the fact that Damon still only wants what he wanted from Katherine, the type of love he wanted to get from Katherine?
But I do agree with Heather, like I said, Damon is still not over his feelings for Katherine or his love for her....not for her in terms of as a person but exactly what he felt for her...so that is why his conscience keeps on showing him images of her..because he still wants that kind of love he has preserved for Katherine over a 100 years.
And yes, about Elena's quote on Stefan making her glad to feel alive, if Damon had his way, right now there would be no Jeremy (if he did not have the ring), no Caroline, no Bonnie.....and friends make a big part of your life, so not only does Stefan make her feel glad to be alive in a romantic way, but also in a totally human way because she still has people around her that she cares about deeply.
Btw, loved that post from tumblr, totally agree with it.
@Charlie, thank you for the support! About that FB post I saw you had earlier...again, that chick says things that don't make sense, and the only thing I saw there is pity...and you could also say that well, if Elena is "choosing" Stefan just because she feels obliged then choosing Damon would be pure pity because he has no one that loves him...which is worse AND what nonsense is that about Elena thinking about Damon all the time? If you rewatch s3 closely, every episode while Elena is with Damon, she talks about Stefan, she wants him back....and her confession to him that she never stopped loving him in Heart of Darkness proved that....because the person you never stopped loving is the one you keep thinking about...and that whole thing about we had SE for 3 seasons, now its time for DE is just so childlike..
And I agree I also want to know where and when did Kol and Damon meet!!!!
@Lord of Winter, OMG, I hate that comment about Stefan being selfish because he is always preffered over Damon.... I look at that argument in another way - POOR STEFAN ALWAYS HAVING TO SHARE A GIRL WITH HIS BROTHER or POOR STEFAN FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO HAVE A GIRL THAT DAMON WOULD NOT NOT FALL FOR....lol, ppl always make Damon into the victim...its sad! And unfair...Btw, that poster with Stefan and his discription is awesome!

@Flora, hey sweetie! Yep PW did a great job, hope he wins, tho I still think Ian fans will get it for him because they are blinded by his hotness (bashing them here not Ian's talent). Plus, I just think Stefan came of boring because they showed a great contrast between him and Damon...we had the typical good boy vs the typical bad boy...I guess thats why I didn;t like TVD back in s1...

Hey guys sorry i have been busy with stuff for 4th of July and family parties. Also when I try to go on here sometimes it acts up. @Kay I loved reading your convo with Peter. Honestly what you guys say makes sense, I just wish the writers make it more clear, or that they somehow allude to this scene in the future. That's my thing. i dont mind vagueness if its meant to be answered and fully explored in the future. So I am SERIOUSLY HOPING that they do have that moment when someone, hopefully even Elena goes to Damon and asks 'Why do you love me?" .... also Kay that was not my post :) I was happy someone else had posted something similar to what we have talked about on this forum :)
@Klaus... I will try to continue the fanfic, it may take a bit of time though, I suddenly became very busy the last two weeks lol. Thank you for your support :)

@Kay:Wow u totally nailed it,there is nothing left for him to say and you are right its definitely a matter of opinion as to which brother is interesting,i prefer Stefan since day one and not because he is good,no i notice there is something different about him and yeah i agree that everything about Stefan's personality is extreme when it comes to the good side he can really be good like nobody else and when it comes to the Dark side he can be bad that you will not even think there is good in him,i have said this once that i don't think Damon will ever be as good or as bad as Stefan.Posted 7/7/2012 2:48:14 AM #
