    Am I horrible for hoping that all the backlash so far will make the CW reconsider their spin-off idea? Everone is already whining and we haven't even seen the pilot yet...lol. This can't be good.

    Considering everyone and their mothers criticized Elena's characterization for THREE SEASONS ALREADY and nothing, nothing changed, I doubt it.

    i read that the president of CW said that the spin off will be a TVD episode on 25 of April, it will be about the original family especially focus on Klaus, it will take place in New Orlean and it will be the crash test about the future for an Original family show.

    Actually Patri, the backlash is nothing for them. When I first heard the news, tumblr was exploding in a 50-50 way. People were mad, while others were super excited. And go check out the articles posted here, all the comments are booming with happiness. The only reason I'm okay with it is because I'm assuming the family will shift to season 5 if they don't do this show.

    The idea of focusing on the Originals would be great if they hadn't ruined them in s3.  Anyway, TVD thinks it can be more successful than GG in doing a spin off, but I doubt it.

    Well to be fair, GG's spinoff was stupid for the fact that they thought we'd be interested in watching a show about "young lily" a character who was not only boring and annoying as fuck with her 5 marriages but not even popular.

    Oh no arguing there GG's spin-off idea was terrible, don't get me wrong, but at least back then GG wasn't that fucked up as TVD is now...I just don't see how JP plans to make anything out of this and juggle one trainwreck which will lead to the distruction of the other. Maybe (and this is just a personal opinion) they should have first ended of with TVD and then sort of continue the story in the spin-off but without Damon and Elena, to me that would be a win-win =)

    From the comments I've read, the only people who seem happy about it are those who don't like the Originals and wanted them out of TVD. Most of the Original fans I've seen (who I suppose will be the target audience for this) are complaining because they're not sure if Rebekah/Elijah/Kol will all be in it, or because they don't care about Hayley, or because klaroline/mabekah/stebekah/koleremy/klefan or whatever else they ship has sunk. Lots of whining all around.

     

    Ugh, this has "BAD IDEA" written all over it.
