Damon walked into the great, white mansion, Elena by his side. They instantly took notice at the clutter in the rooms, as though someone was searching for something. Damon half glances at Elena and whispers, "Stay close to me, he might still be here." Elena nods slightly and follows closely behind as Damon searches the rooms, one by one. "For a warlock, this guy is a little unorganized," Damon stated as he sifted through piles of papers and books. Elena, getting nervous, says "Damon, let's just go. Whatever he was looking for, he's not here." Damon gave a slanted smile and responded, "Or maybe Dante the "ancient" has already found what he was looking for and we're too late...Anyway, you're probably right, we should take off before your boyfriend gets all worried and starts brooding again." Elena smiled at the comment, though she tried to hold it back, until Damon continued, "I mean, it's so great that Stefan's all good again and you two are completely devoted to eachother, despite him trying to kill you and trying to kill me and stopping me from Killing Klaus..."
The sarcasm in Damon's voice and the glint of disappointment in his eyes, suggested that he still loves her and wonders what it would be like to have her to himself...Elena wondered that as well, though she tried not to ever let the thought cross her mind or her heart. She realized that her feelings for Damon were of a close friend, but how long would that last? Every chance she spends on these little endeavors with him, alone, is more time that she has to get closer to him. Elena soon noticed that she was drifting off into thought and came back to herself, "Okay Damon, I get the point, besides you shouldn't be so hard on hi-"
"Shhh," Damon interrupted, "Did you hear that?"
"No," said Elena quietly.
"Stay here, I'm gonna go check it out." Damon whispers as he goes to investigate the source of the noise upstairs. Elena remains in the library, gazing at the bookcase, she notices a strange looking book that looked as though it was touched recently. "The Trials" She opened the book to find an old picture of Emily Bennet, hidden in the pages, she took the picture in her hand and said to herself, "What is this doing here?" As she stared at the photo, an ominous figure appeared behind her.
Damon, upstairs, finds a similar book and opened it, he began to read a page titled, "The Ancients", upon reading it he hears a loud scream, which alerted to Elena's distress, Damon quickly ripped out the page from the book and stuffed it in his pocket as he charged down the staircase.
"Damon!" Elena's screams brought Damon into the library, where stood a menacing man, dressed in a black cloak. He looked charmind and fairly yound, but his emerald green eyes shown black and soulless, a man who has seen much history, whose humanity had died long ago with those whose lives he had taken throughout the years. "Dante." Damon said in a calm, cool tone, so as to not worry Elena, despite himself being almost afraid and with good reason. Dante stood there, grabbing the back of Elena's hair, as she began to tremble and look to Damon for some kind of help.
Dante smiled at their fear, for it made him stronger. "Good, you remember me, it's nice to see how much of an impact I can make on your lives. By the way, how is little blondie? It must be hard to lose your mother so suddenly like that." An evil grin crossed his face. Damon tried to ignore the comment, his intent focused on Elena, who still stood in Dante's clutches, "Release her"
"Or what? You can't stop me." Dante then raised a free hand, magically pinning him to the wall.
"No!" Elena's scream was instant, as Dante broke off a piece of the staircase banister and shoved it into Damon's stomach, causing him to yell, unable to move or do anything about it. "I seek information, you're going to give it to me." Dante demanded as he shoved the stake deeper into his stomach.
"What makes you think I'll give it to you?" Damon forcefully asked as he cringed from the pain.
"Wrong answer!" Dante then pulled out the stake and shoved it highter into Damon's chest, where it buried inches from his heart. Elena gasped and instantly yelled out, "Emily Bennett! That's who your looking for, isn't it?" Dante turned to face her and Damon watched on in curiousity and worry. "Emily has been dead for almost 200 years, she's not here anymore." Dante rushed towards her and grabbed her throat, "You're lying, "I can feel her power here. He gazed into her eyes, trying to pierce her very mind, she tried to fight but he was too strong. He smiled as her thoughts rolled into his own mind like a story, "Well, it seems that there is a descendant here, interesting." Elena began shedding tears, she put Damon in danger and now Bonnie's on the list, she felt anguish and frustration at how easily she could be manipulated and used, when Damon was fighting while pinned to a wall. Dante looked satisfied with Elena's guilt and roughly threw her to the ground as he quickly disappeared into thin air, out of sight. Elena remained on the ground for a couple moments, reflecting what had just happened, but her thoughts were soon interrupted with the sound of Damon's struggle to remove himself from the wall. "A little help here, Elena." She got up and with shaking hands, gently removed the stake imbedded in his chest, he then fell into her arms, heaving a sigh of relief into her neck. He remained there in that moment which caused her to wonder if his pain compelled him to, or if this was another attempt to make a move on her, but he only wrapped his arms around her in comfort, feeling her body shake and her heart pounding against his chest. He worried that she might push him away but instead she pulled him closer and cried into his shoulder, "What have I done, Damon?" She felt defeated, she felt weak, but Damon held her up as he took her wet face into his hands,
"It's not your fault, Elena...he was too powerful. I promise, no harm will come to Bonnie or you, I won't let it." Elena wasn't sure if those words could even matter, but she was reassured by her faith in Damon. Dante has to be stopped, before it's too late.
3000 years ago, a group of witches came to be known around much of the land: Abraham Bennett, Ruth-Anne Salvatore, Delilah Petrova, Mary Lockwoode and Dante Valtieri. These group of witches, though well known in their time, have almost disappeared in history, leaving only a handful of books to scratch the surface on their existence. This group, who had just discovered their power, knew nothing of their true purpose in life, to preserve nature and everything within it. They all carried on normally, enjoying their newfound magic, some more then others. Dante and his sister Ruth-Anne, who had just married Jeremiah Salvatore, had both enjoyed who were and what they could do but unlike Dante, Ruth sought to keep peace and to revitalize the land, which grew even more important when Mary Lockwoode's husband began turning into a monstrous beast every night, hunting and destroying, wreaking havoc on neighboring villages, along with many others just like him. He soon killed his own wife when she tried to stop him, leading the other witches to take action, placing a curse on William and other wolves, limiting their power to that of a full moon. They then vowed to always protect and preserve nature with their power, all except Dante, who adored his own strength and capabilities. Dante, apart from everyone else, discovered something new about himself, that he can take away power from others and use it as his own. He began killing any werewolves he could find and taking their strength, doing this for several years gave him much power and he reveled in it. Ruth learned of this and warned the other witches of her brother's conquests and so in fear and concern, all three of them banded together to attempt destroying him but he succeeded in killing them all and absorbing their power, unknowing that they placed a curse on their own power, when he absorbed their magic he took in that curse as well which permanently limited his own power, but once every 200 years, he gets the power back and can awaken from his slumber to seek the immortality that he longs for. But, like a timer, he has limited time before he must sleep again. To receive the immortality that he desires, he feels he has to kill the descendants of the witches who placed this curse on him: Bonnie Bennett, one of the Salvatore brothers, and Katherine Petrova.
The one person who can help put an end to him is an assassin named, Gwendolyn.
Before much of the chaos, Ruth-Anne had an affair with fellow witch and friend, Abraham Bennet and she bore a child. To keep from scandal and repercussions, she had the child and gave it to a poor, but kind family several villages away. She lied to everyone and stated that she had a miscarriage. Five years went by and chaoes ensued with Dante, before the witches encountered their fate, Ruth went one last time to see her daughter Gwen...She put a spell on her, giving her some of her own power and when Gwen were to come of age at 18, she would be forced to go into a long slumber till Dante's return, so she may put an end to him. It's only if she destroys him, that she can be freed to live her life again, but if he runs out of time on this earth, then so does she...for a time.

Here is my Chapter 2. "Wake Up Call"
*2 Nights Ago*Dante: "Why don't you just tell me where it is, or I rip your pathetic little heart out." man: "I'm telling you man, I've no idea where it is." The man's pale face grew even paler in the moonlit night as he knelt to the ground, he sat there grabbing his own throat, as though someone was forcing him to choke the life out of himself. Before the feeble young man, stood a tall and scary man, who concentrated easily, forcing the man to cause himself pain.Dante: "I Suggest you tell me where that staff is...I can easily strangle you even more and kill you right here." His eyes shown almost black in the darkness, the victim grew still as if in thought.man: "Okay, okay...a friend of mine might know where it is, he's a huge history buff." He began choking even harder on his words as Dante's magical grip tightened even more, his impatience showing even clearer as he got closer to the man on the ground, demanding more answers. Dante: "WHO?!?" the man's voice could be heard clear across the countryside, drawing two wandering eyes to the scene. The grip lessened so that the victim could speak quickly and easily. man: "H-h-he's in Mystic Falls. His name is..." In an instant a shot was fired and the man on the ground laid there, dead. Dante's anger rose as he felt himself getting even more furious, the information he was so close to receiving, dropped dead with the body lying in the green grass. He looked toward the sound and could see a woman, wielding a gun, her hair a light blonde...her countenance showed that of a woman who's earned the respect and trust of her own peers. Standing across the park from where she stood, was Dante and as he moved closer and closer to her, she began to fire her gun several times before realizing that he wasn't even getting hurt. He laughed as her attempts to kill him were getting more and more pathetic, within seconds her gun was flung from her hands, the shock in her face became more prominent, even in the dark. Sheriff Forbes: "Are you a vampire?" Dante smiled at the ignorance of the question and as he magically slammed her body to the ground, he replied, Dante: "Now what makes you say that?" He then grabbed a metal rod from nearby and jammed it in her chest. The woman's eyes grew dark as her life left her body, her last thought on her own daughter.Caroline: "Thanks Elena, I know I shouldn't worry about my relationship with Tyler but he makes things so difficult sometimes." Caroline walked towards her vehicle, holding a cell phone in her hand...Elena's voice, on the other line.Elena: "Well, I'm glad I could help...I'm going through some things with Stefan. Caroline? Caroline, are you there?" Elena heard quiet whimperings of a seemingly distraught Caroline. Caroline, still with the phone to her ear, walked towards a body hanging on the wall of a building, her face familiar, more familiar then anyone else in Caroline's life. Caroline: "Mom!" Caroline rushed toward the body and pulled it down from the wall, she held her mother in her arms and cried hysterically on the phone...Elena: "Caroline, what's wrong?" Caroline began explaining on the phone, the scene before her eyes and as Caroline cried as she spoke, Elena began crying, as if it was Caroline's pain that she was feeling as well. *Present Day*The alarm clock rung at 8:00 a.m, Elena got up from bed and sullenly got dressed for day. Her black dress was fitting for the day's arrangement...how could this happen? I can't believe Sheriff Forbes is dead? How will Caroline handle all of this? These thoughts filled Elena's mind as she walked slowly down the stairs of the Salvatore house. Stefan to Elena: "Hey, how you doing?" Stefan and Damon awaited in the living area, both seemingly concerned with how Elena was handling this. She tried not to show how upset she was but even when she kissed Stefan's lips that morning, he could tell that she was clearly upset. Elena: "I'll be okay, so much has happened in this town that I'm just trying to get by...I need to be strong for Caroline." Stefan hugged Elena and stroked her hair, knowing that she had to give a speech at the funeral, despite her nerves. Damon kept joking about her having to give a nervous speech in front of loads of grieving people, but despite Damon's efforts of cheering her up, she only scolded him for the rude remarks, Damon gave her an apologetic look and as Stefan and Elena walked out the door, he soon followed. The Forbes house was full of sad and anxious people, most of whom consisted of Mayor Lockwood, the council and pretty much anyone who wished to attend. Caroline sat in her room, alone, as she tried her hardest to avoid awkward hugs and sad people. *knock* she reluctantly told the person to come in, seeing it was Tyler, made her all the more nervous and upset.Tyler: "Hey Caroline, I just wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss." Caroline gave a tiny smile and refrained from eye contact."Look, can't we just talk about the other night."Caroline couldn't believe what she was hearing, her "boyfriend" coming to talk about their relationship at her own mother's funeral. Caroline: "You've got to be kidding me..." Tyler, not fully understanding her reasons for anger, quickly left her room with a disappointed expression. Quickly she pulled herself together and followed after him, calling his name.Caroline: "Tyler, Tyler. Wait." As soon as she caught up with him, he turned to face her, awaiting an explanation but when all she could say were excuses for her behavior, he decided to speak up first.Tyler: "Look Caroline, I don't know what it is that's wrong with you but you've been irritable and distant and just different. And "don't" say it's because your mom died because you and I both know that it's been going on for a while. So what is it?" Caroline still wasn't sure, all she knew was that she was feeling different and it's been driving other people away. Her emotions were even more out of control and for once it worried even her, still unable to give a reasonable answer, Tyler just continued to look disappointed, "Whatever, Caroline. Tell me when your over...whatever this is." He walked over to a group of chairs and sat down, next to Matt, who tried to ignore the fact that he was sitting next to the one guy who Caroline chose over him. Caroline wiped her eyes and went into the same room, her eyes focused on the front of the room, where her mother lied in a mahogany coffin, cherry blossoms laid perfectly on its glazed shell. Caroline wasn't entirely sure this was real, how could she be sitting at her own mom's funeral? How could this be reality? But everytime she would shut her eyes and reopen, the nightmare would continue. Elena sat still, nervous, half-wondering why she was going to give a speech in the first place...seemed like something Caroline should do, but she tried not to allow herself to blame Caroline for not wanting to do it.Jeremy: *walking towards Elena* Elena seen him coming towards her with a worried expression and curiously listened as he approached her.Jeremy: "Hey Elena, have you seen Bonnie? She told me she was coming, she should've been here by now."Elena: "No, I haven't." She began thinking to herself, about what she and Damon had found at Grove Hill Mansion. If Dante is coming for her, she's not safe...but, she hoped that it was nothing serious.Jeremy thought the same thing, but came to the conclusion that it was probably nothing. He sat down next to Alaric, his phone still in his hand.Stefan to Elena: "Is everything okay?"Elena: "Yeah, it'll be fine" She glanced over at Damon, who had heard the whole conversation with great interest and she gave him an "I can't do this" look. She got up to give her speech in front of the crowd, she stood there staring at all the grief-stricken faces."Liz Forbes was a good friend of mine, she believed in protecting and preserving this town and its people, and-" Her focus was interrupted by the sudden leave of Jeremy, who had gotten a phone call...she looked at Damon, who saw the same thing and he got up to follow after him. Elena tried to continue with her speech. "And though she's gone, she would want us all to work together to do the same..."Damon and Jeremy stood outside the house, Jeremy's ear stuck to the phone as he thought that it was Bonnie.Jeremy: "Bonnie, Bonnie are you there?" He looked at Damon who motioned for the phone and Jeremy responded by handing it to him.Damon: "Hello?"Dante: "Just the man I wanted to talk to. I'd like to thank you for revealing to me, the witch I needed."Damon: "What are you talking about?"Dante: *Walked over to Bonnie, who lied on the floor with her hands bound and body beaten and scarred* He then put the phone to her ear and as two men began to use magic to harm her, she screamed into the phone...her pain was undeniable and Damon couldn't help but feel that this was part of his fault, a part he needed to fix.Damon: "Where is she" Dante smiled at the question, knowing that playing a game would be alot more fun.Dante: "Now, why would I tell you that? I need her in the near future and she's not going anywhere. You could try to find her but you'll die in the process." The phone went dead almost instantly as the call was ended.Stefan and Elena came outside, apparently finished with her speech, both worried by Damon and Jeremy's faces.Elena: "What is it, what's wrong?"Damon looked at her with eyes that could only sympathize and hope for better news to give but he knew he had to tell her, he needed to.Damon: "It's Bonnie...Dante has her."The shock was instant on their faces and it seemed to grow with each second, Elena felt so guilty, Bonnie getting caught was all her fault. She knew she had to find some way to rescue her, she had to figure out how to stop this man who's responsible for the funeral they were at now. She saw in Damon's eyes, real sympathy, she saw an apology begin to surface from his lips...but she insisted that none of this was his fault, that they will find her and they will put an end to Dante.
It's a little squished though, I didn't know that would happen when I posted, darn.
