Producer Reveals Secrets of The Vampire Diaries

Based on the series premiere of The Vampire Diaries, the new series will clearly be based around numerous mysterious.

Who is Katherine? What is Elena's connection to her? What is the history of the Salvatores and Mystic Falls?

While viewers may be asking questions, however, producer Kevin Williamson says residents of Mystic Falls will not; they won't go too long without learning about the blood suckers that live among them.

“The town wakes up to [the vampires] relatively quick and tries to do something about it,” Williamson said in an interview. “We don’t know exactly who is it in the town, who are these people that figure it out. We have a character coming in, in a couple of episodes that is another series regular that steps in and he comes with an agenda.”

As for Elena's journal, there's a reason she turns to pen and paper, as opposed to keyboard and screen. Williamson said:

“A lot of people write journal on a computer now, but Elena’s mother is the one who gave her that journal and explained to her the importance of journaling. So she writes in her journal. It is a connection to her mother. It is really a nice way to sort of open up a story, begin a story and close a story. It is a really great bookend."

The Vampire Diaries premieres on September 10 on The CW.

Edie Falco Peers into Future of Nurse Jackie

Nurse Jackie concludes its wonderful first season tonight.

Because the Showtime hit has already been renewed for a second set of 13 episodes, star Edie Falco can comfortably look ahead. When asked if she wanted the audience to eventually learn why her character cheats, Falco wasn't sure.

"I don't know if I want people to find out," she told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "The more things you leave as questions, the more interesting the show will be. The more it's spelled out, the more it feels like everything else you see on television. People talk about [why she cheats] and I love that. And if there is no cut and dried answer, the conversation will go on longer."

She speaks from experience, considering the murky, controversial ending of The Sopranos.

As for the success of the show, Falco deflects praise to the supporting cast.

"I think we were really careful about going for actors who maybe aren't famous. There's nothing cookie-cutter about their portrayals of these characters, and they wouldn't necessarily be the first person a network would choose to cast," she said. "But I'm the president of the fan club of all my co-stars. I never knew what their line reading would be or how different it would be each time we shot it."

Zachary Quinto Teases "Visual Playground" of Season Four

When we last left Sylar, Matt Parkman had brainwashed the dangerous shape shifter into believing he was Nathan Petrelli.

This act will continue to have consequences on season four of Heroes.

Also, when the show returns on September 21, viewers can look forward to a slew of fun and games, courtesy of the addition of a traveling carnival run by new series regular Robert Knepper. Zachary Quinto can't wait.

“I think the carnival is going to be the whole new revelatory thing for our show this year,” Quinto told TV Guide Magazine. “There’s a lot of amazing dynamics we’re adding to the show, but I think the carnival is going to be a really visual playground.”

Kelly Monaco: Remaining on General Hospital

General Hospital viewers can breathe a sigh of relief.

Two weeks after a casting notice went out, seemingly calling for a new actress to play the role of Sam McCall, actress Kelly Monaco says she was never going anywhere.

"I'm staying!" Monaco confirmed to Soap Opera Digest this week. "There really was no doubt."

GH Beauty

What about that casting call, though? All part of the job, Monaco said.

"It wasn't even a scare tactic. It's just standard procedure. If my stuff wasn't signed by sometime a.m., then they have to send out a breakdown."

FlashForward Premiere Spoilers: Near Suicides, Friendship Bracelets and More!

We've seen the pilot episode of FlashForward.

The first 20 minutes are a bit muddled, but have patience. Events come together in the second half and the conclusion leaves one counting the days until episode two.

Flash Forward Scene

Read on for a few series premiere spoilers, as we reveal just what various characters actually flash forward to...

  • Aaron Stark sees his wife, alive and well. This is quite unexpected, as he thought she died in the war;
  • Zachary, a co-worker of Olivia's, is about to commit suicide in the present day - but he seems himself alive in his flash forward and decides against the act when he regains consciousness.
  • In Mark Benford's vision of the future, he's wearing a friendship bracelet. Near the end of the pilot, his daughter presents him with this piece of jewelry, confirming the accuracy of his flash forward.

FlashForward premieres on ABC on September 24. You should really watch it.
