The Office Quotes: "New Boss"

Last Thursday on The Office, Michael met his "New Boss" Charles Miner (The Wire alum Idris Elba), a no-nonsense taskmaster who was unwilling to give Michael any leeway or tolerate his absurdity even for a second, ultimately leading to Mr. Scott's resignation.

It was a meltdown of epic proporations, setting the stage for some great episodes to come as Miner tries to assert control over Dunder Mifflin. Below are some of best lines from the episode - check out our full list of The Office quotes from all five seasons, too!

Idris Elba as Charles Minor

Angela: Charles and Kelly? Absolutely not. He is a sophisticated man. He does not need to go dumpster-diving for companionship, ok? | permalink
Kelly: I could see our kids facing obstacles being half-Black and half-Indian, but it's so worth it, you guys.
Phyllis: It's just me here. | permalink
Michael: I quit. | permalink
Jim: And for my next trick, I will make my career disappear. | permalink
Michael: Fifteen years I have been here. And I have sacrificed a lot.
David: Yes.
Michael: I've put having a family on hold.
David: We didn't ask you to do that. | permalink
Michael: David said you and I should get to know each other better. So I would like you to tell me something that you've never told anybody before.
Charles: No.
Michael: Come on. What's your wife's name? Where did you work before you came here?
Charles: Saticoy Steel.
Michael: Beautiful. African-Americans have such a rich history of unusual names. | permalink
Michael: I don't need to be managed, Charles. And if you want pick up some tips, observing here, and take them to the other branches, it's all good. But Jan would mostly come by when she was super horny, and Ryan would come by to visit his parents and do laundry, so... Are we clear?
Charles: That's not how I plan on doing things. | permalink
Dwight: Ask him about the party.
Michael: [on speakerphone] Oh, right. David, are you coming to my 15th anniversary party?
David: I'll give it my best shot, Michael.
Dwight: No the other thing.
Michael: Oh, ok. If we hire Cirque de Soleil as salaried employees, will that help us with year-end tax stuff? [long silence]
Dwight: He hung up?
David: No. | permalink
Michael: Listen, why don't we just leave that position vacant? Truth be told, I think I thrive under a lack of accountability. | permalink

Kenneth: [to Liz, about Drew] Don't get too attached, because once people realize his tonics don't work, it's on to the next town. | permalink
Tracy Jr.: I didn't come here for excuses - I came here to see the dumbest cracker in all New York. Did you even vote for Obama? | permalink
Liz: You can't put Gatorade on salmon.

Jack: Tracy and I have become quite close. Look, we got BFF bracelets.
Liz: You guys are best friends forever?
Jack: That's not what that stands for. | permalink

John C. McGinley Fighting Fires on Back

As if the nail wasn't pounded into the coffin enough, yet another Scrubs star has left to try out a new pilot.  This time, it's John C. McGinley leaving his scrubs behind to fight some fires on ABC's new pilot Back.

Back centers on Richard (Skeet Ulrich), a man who returns home to discover he was reported missing eight years earlier after September 11.  Now, his former wife (Sherry Stringfield) has re-married a firefighter named Tom (John C. McGinley).

John C. McGinley as Dr. Cox

Sounds a lot more serious than the role of Dr. Cox on Scrubs.

The Big Bang Theory Spoilers: Sheldon in a Relationship?

While most of the love interest story lines on The Big Bang Theory go to Leonard or Wolowitz, everyone is dying to know if Sheldon will ever get a girlfriend.  And no, we don't count his accidental relationship with grad student, Romana.

Kristin Dos Santos of E! Online recently asked the actor behind the hilarious Sheldon, Jim Parsons, and he responded, "I think we have a couple of more seasons to go before we'll see [Sheldon in love]. No matter how much I beg and plead, there's never any love in that way. I always thought that with Sheldon and Sara Gilbert's character, Leslie Winkle, the passion would have to burn hot. The hate does, so why wouldn't the love? But I don't think that's going to happen. I've said that out loud on the set and nobody takes me up on it."

So what do you guys think? Should a third member of the nerds try their attempt with Leslie?  How about the love / hate relationship between Sheldon and Penny? Jim simply laughed it off by saying, "How drunk would that [situation] have to be?!"

Sheldon and Penny Make Berets

Either way it sounds like we're waiting a couple more seasons.  Thank god The Big Bang Theory got renewed for at least two more.

Samantha Who? Spoilers: A Focus on Todd and Sam

When Samantha Who? returns from hiatus this Thursday, the relationship between Todd and Sam will be the sitcom's leading storyline.

Christina Applegate said as much to E! in a new interview. Asked whether or not this couple uniting would ruin the series, the actress said:

I don't think [it would] because I think they would fight like brother and sister still. I think there's always going to be that dynamic with them - where they love each other and they can't stand each other at the same time.

I think she annoys him to death, and he annoys her to death, and yet they're in love with that part of each other as well. They live together now, so it's almost like being together, except he sleeps on the couch. I don't think it would be over.

Coming to The United States of Tara: Advice for Marshall

Following that awkward one-armed guy hug last week on The United States of Tara, it appears as though Marshall and Jason are over.

This Sunday, on a new episode of the Showtime series, Marshall receives some inspired wisdom from his sister.

Kate and Marshall

According to E! Online, on the occasion of his heartbreak, Kate tells her little brother:

"If you take a pill to make everything better, then you never know when things are f--ked up, and if you don't know when things are f--ked up, then you can't fix it yourself."

Amen, girlfriend!

The Mentalist Spoilers: The Return of Red John

Is Red John really coming back to The Mentalist?

According to leaked information regarding the show's 21st episode - titled "Red John's Footsteps" - an array of bloody smiley faces begin appearing around town, following the kidnapping of twin sisters.

Might this truly be Patrick Jane's nemesis? Or could it be another copycat? We'll have to tune in and find out.

Totally Bloodshot

More on The Baby Ghost Whisperer

As earlier reported, Melinda is knocked up with Jim's baby.

What does this mean for the future of The Ghost Whisperer and her impending delivery?

It's a "very special baby with an important role to play," said producer P.K. Simonds, who added that the child will inherit unique abilities from Melinda.

Also, as Simonds told E! Online, look for the young one to possess "other kinds of gifts that we haven't explored on the show yet."

Melinda Hearts Sam

On the episode "Leap of Faith," Jim's memories finally came flooding back to Sam. That should make this relationship a bit easier.

Entourage Spoilers: Good Girls This Season?

Season six of Entourage seems it's going to be a very female-dominated season.  First we've gotten casting reports of Alexiz Dziena joing the cast as E's new woman.  Then we got news of both Jami Gertz and Autumn Reeser joining.

Now, as if Entourage didn't have enough estrogen, the actress behind Mrs. Ari, Perry Reeves told E! Online, "We have some really good girl [characters] this year, [including] some people returning [who] maybe nobody knew they'd be back, so that's kind of exciting."

Krisitin's theory?  Mandy Moore will be back. Well since we already know Sloan and Jamie-Lynn Sigler are guarantees, our next hope is for Justine Chapin or Emily.  Just saying, they were good girls.

Mrs. Gold
