30 Rock Full Episode: "Cutbacks"

In Thursday's episode, "Cutbacks," the economic recession took its toll on 30 Rock.

Or at least the show-within-the-show, TGS. Liz was forced to cut her budget by 25 percent, and being reluctant to let any staff members go, she decided to try a different tack - bartering wholly unexciting sexual favors for corporate considerations.

It was great. To watch (or re-watch) this episode of 30 Rock, hit it below!

The Office Full Episodes: "Dream Team," "The Michael Scott Paper Company"

On Thursday's episodes of The Office, "Dream Team" and "The Michael Scott Paper Company," a new corporation took shape, and despite many obstacles in its path (total ineptness, Ryan morphing into a d-bag, 165 square feet for three people), actually closed a sale.

Meanwhile, at Dunder-Mifflin, Jim continued to struggle working underneath new boss Charles, Andy and Dwight have become BFFs, and Kevin had a brief stint as receptionist.

To witness the humble beginnings to the surely doomed Michael Scott Paper Co., or to re-watch the hilariousness a second time, peep this week's episodes of The Office below:

Ratings Report: Strong NBC Premieres

NBC has high hopes for its two new Thursday night shows, Parks and Recreation and Southland.

After one airing of each, the Peacock must be happy with the results.

The Amy Poehler sitcom recorded 6.8 million viewers, approximately what 30 Rock is averaging for the season. The figure it also about two million more viewers than what Kath & Kim had been doing to for NBC at 8:30 p.m.

Southland, meanwhile, earned 9.7 million viewers. That's an improvement over the show it replcaed, ER, which averaged 9.1 million during its final season.

Among other primetime pickings:

  • The Office won both its time slots among 18-49 year-olds.
  • Bones (8.9 million) was down from last week.
  • In the Motherhood (4.6 million) and Samantha Who? (4.9 million) were really down.

30 Rock Recap: "Cutbacks"

The days of Liz Lemon's wild coke parties (as in the soda) are over as TGS faces a serious budget crisis. What will she do to save her staff from being laid off?

Offer to put out (or at least go to first base) with a consultant, of course. What else?

Meanwhile, Jonathan has been fired due to the economy, forcing Kenneth to take over at Jack's side... forcing Tracy, in turn, to take charge of feeding Kenneth's bird.

He soon posits that Ken is actually a serial killer.

It all made for a hilarious episode of 30 Rock.

Parks and Recreation Recap: "Pilot"

"Miss Knope?! There’s a drunk stuck in the slide."
- first line of Parks and Recreation

How can a show go wrong that starts its pilot episode in such fashion? It pretty much can't. At first glance, Parks and Recreation felt just like The Office, only with parks. And booze, awkward supervisors, and oddballs in middle-of-nowhere America.

So it's basically just like The Office but with parks. Nice!

We think it is safe to call the Amy Poehler-led series a success in the early going, and a fitting addition to NBC's Thursday lineup. Follow the link for a recap of the pilot ...

The Office Recaps: "Dream Team," "The Michael Scott Paper Company"

Back-to-back episodes of The Office - with the second featuring alternative opening credits featuring the "staff" at The Michael Scott Paper Company, Inc. - are pretty much a lock to be comedic gold, and despite some slow moments, they lived up to expectations.

While Jim continued to falter at Dunder-Mifflin, New BFFs Andy and Dwight wouldn't let their mutual desire for the hot new receptionist undermine their man-crushes on each other. And at TMSPC, Pam actually closed her first sale in the 165-square foot office.
