my Ranking:1-greatest
1.)Jessica-- it's evident that jimmy iovine said she's "TECHNICALLY THE BEST". I agree. She inspires and move people so she gets many votes and because of her near elimination..we americans were waken up.
2.) Phillip-- he's unique. and the female americans are with him on votes.
3.) Joshua-- he's outstanding but people will get annoyed with him and his "everytime" standing ovations.
4.) Hollie-- she's only good on few songs. skylar is much better than her. but still, she has a good voice.

A new season and a new set of singers... But this season is by far the best season of American Idol with the most talented singers fighting for one spot...
Phillip can win it but I'm still a little weirded out by his style of singing.
Jessica too... She can win and will most likely win.

Jessica, the girl with a unique and big voice. After 5 years, a girl must win, and that's not Hollie of course. Phillip is artistic but too boring and Joshua's screaming is great but tiring.

It's about time that real vocal/singing talent prevails. Go Jessica!!!

The "judges" (who act more like a cheering section than judges) seem to
think nobody watches AL except teeny boppers who trip on rap and heavy
metal. Real singers are out there and I think the winners since Carrie
(Hicks, Allen, etc) show that. Joshua, stick to church revivals. Your voice is great for that and your screaming would fit right in. The only contestant who totally entertains me is Phillip. He is the only one who has never tempted me to hit the mute button when he sings.

I think Joshua should have been eliminated a long time ago. JLo was right when she said she was judging the singers by today's screaming standards.
Joshua' screaming aggravates me so much I mute the sound when he sings.
Incidently, am I the only one who thinks he acted rather strange on the
this week? He acted like one who is secretly gay and tries his best to
hide it.

Final three will be Jessica, Joshua and Philip. Winner will be determined (hopefully) in their talent, versatility, performance and of course votes. Goodluck to all of them. I hope the judges and the voters choose the right winner.

I am relieved to read all of the voices here regarding the voices of American Idol 1. Joshua gets the standing ovations for screaming- not singing. Hard to understand his actual words...so he screams. He is talented but ask yourself...would you BUY his album. Is he relevant, marketable and sustainable like the superstars that American Idol has produced like Underwood, Daughtery, etc....would you pay to go to Joshua's concert?
2. Jessica...amazing voice...very young...I agree, given 3 more years...she could produce hits, Whitney style...in a few years.
3. Holly....she can sing..but again, is she marketable, relevant, sustainable....would you buy an album...would you go to a concert...NOPE
4. Phillip...he is all of the above...unique, compelling and he has the fortitude to create an album that you would download and enjoy.
It's all about the whole package and as true artist...it is in this kid.

I have not been so mesmerised by a performer since Adam Lambert, as when I watch Joshua. His stage prescence and performance is special. I would watch a Joshua concert before any of the others

The show is supposed to be about 'performing' so the criteria should be based on who gives the most complete performances each week. Joshua is certainly good at performing, but each week there is a 'scream' whether it belongs there or not. Jessica's youth shows up each week ... she can sign better than all of them, but her performances are always just immature. If she gets bad advice on songs she has to push back. Phillip is rogue and very entertaining, but he most definitely does not have the singing chops that all of the other three have. He marches to his own beat and that independence will carry him. Hollie is the opposite, she has a terrific voice, but little charisma and even less performing ability. This week was her first week as an 'entertainer'. Hollie goes next, then Joshua. Final two will be Jessica and Phillip.

I think that you guys are being much too hard on Jessica the last two to three weeks, including the judges. Not to mention, Jimmy the mentor, has admitted, that he did not give her good advice concering the "Proud Mary" and "Try a Little Tenderness" songs, in which she still performed well. My vote goes to Jessica. Then Joshua because from day one of the competition they both give consistance and solid performances.

"River Deep Mountain High" was the most exciting performance last week, and with "Bleeding Love" Hollie proved that she has the talent to win. I'm voting 100% for Hollie! She has loads of personality too just watch her interviews.

Phillip is the only original artist. He tries new things with his songs all the time and isn't predictable or shouty and screaming like the others. It would be pure hell to listen to Joshua's screaming for more than one song. The judges are doing him a diservice by their ridiculous standing ovations and over the top praise. He looks as embarassed as the audiences feel!

Since I have been watching the show I have noticed that the judges do seem to side with certain contes=tants. To me it is not just about having a good voice but also the style and way they interpret the song. Each of the contestants have their own way of doing the songs but as far as individual styles go I am going to have to sway toward Hollie and Phillip. It's ashamed that Skylar was kicked off because as far as being a consumate performer she definitely to me was a triple threat. She has the voice, the songwriting and the instrumental capabilities.Thankfully she went out with a bang! Awesome!

I think Jessica is the best. Her voice is versatile. She doesn't have to scream or strain to reach the high notes. The quality of her singing voice is awesome, very pleasant to listen to.She is so gifted.

Why do we have to put up with the judges at all?? Just let us vote. The only judge that appears to be genuine and serious is Steven. I agree with the others......The OBVIOUS standing ovations for Joshua are getting very old. Joshua must be embarrassed by the obvious. Is it that we are due for a talent of color? The judges need a swift kick. It is obvious that they think we are all stupid. Next season keep the judges separated so that they vote independantly. It would be great if they couldn't communicate with each other throughout the season. BETTER YET.......WE DON'T NEED THEM, ONLY THE TALENT!!

@cheryl ellen- I agree with you. Randy truly encourages the other 2 judges to give a standing ovation to joshua every week. I cannot agree more. The judges are so biased. Randy looks over to the other two and has to will them to stand up and aplaud Joshua every WEEK, come on. J Lo said he is the best voice she has heard in 50 years, remind us Jen how old are you? Get over it guys, there is more talent in this show than Joshua, and you all need to recognise that, maybe thats a bit hard for Stephen to get his brain around!

I think it is terrible and very unprofessional for the American Idol judges to say that Joshua is the best singer every to grace the Idol stage and that Jennifer Lopez even said that, "Joshua is the greatest singer over the last 50 years". What a crock! All Joshua ever does is scream every song.

Hollie is the superior singer in voice, stage presence, clothes, and looks to make a successful American Idol, as is Carrie Underwood. Hollie can sing ballads, country, pop, and sounds well. The judges have been so uncomplimentary to her until last night. If they want a winner with record sales, Hollie will be #1 in sales...I'll bet on that one. Hollie will just get stronger as she gets older and wiser with DVDs. If they want a return on their investment, the brass at AI had better hope Hollie is the winner. Carrie has always been my favorite, and I have bought every CD of hers - and I bought Scotty's. Never bought any of the other ones, not even Kelly's - country and pop are my favorites.
