Not big on Damon/Elena or Stefan/Elena, but I do love Damon/Katherine.
Stefan/Katherine has my condolences how poorly written it is -_-

No, I know that Stefan comment wasn't for me; I was just butting in and giving my two cents.
I agree that Stefan has resolved his feelings to a degree that Damon hasn't , and his stability might be a shine to this fact. That said, I don't see Damon as idealizing Katherine. I see Damon's acceptance of who she is - something Katherine never let Stefan do - as part of the reason he felt so close to her.
The thought strikes me as very Damon, as he was kinda the outcast in his father's eyes, which might have made him more....accepting to her nature. Add in a love that blinded him to the misfortune of others - a love to kill for, literally, and Damon was extremely aware of Katherine's darker nature -- the difference is in how he reacted then and how he reacts now. And the way he reacts now is very much what intrigues Katherine, INO.
But, I digress. IDK how his love for Katherine and his love for Elena are tied together, but I do see some interesting similarieties. Honestly, though, I see it as more a problem of Damon constantly wanting to be loved, and constantly being let down. I'd appreciate both Datherine and Delena more if they got off of that track.

Agreed, in some rights.
I see where the comparison comes in, but I also see Damon as the one that shown the most emotion with Katherine, whereas the show has maintained Stefan's alloofness with the whole thing. It also helps that nearly every Katherine-centric scene is with Damon.
