Can a show be called for jumping the shark when it's only a month into its first season? In the case of House of Lies, the answer is yes. This show is ridiculously implausible, unfunny, and seems to have been written by Beavis and Butthead after taking a business class at the local junior college and then dropped out after 20 minutes. Add to that characters that are stuffed to the gills with smugness, have barely a scintilla of likeability and then you've got the recipe, surely, for a one-and-done Showtime series that, were it not for its "tweener" status sandwiched by Shameless and Californication would've been dumped in the first week.
