Wow, it is awfully cold outside. If only I had a snuggie and some toast to keep me warm... Oh, the question? Well, Lassiter is my favorite character, and Tim Omundson is such a brilliant actor that he makes every moment that Lassie has screentime something memorable. Asking me to pick a favorite is a bit unfair, but life's not fair. Lassie could tell you that. And so, my favorite moment would have to be in "Mr. Yin Presents" when Lassiter disobeys the Chief to go rescue Juliet from the clock tower. Not only was it nice to see Lassiter be the hero (without Shawn's help), but seeing just how much he genuinely cared for his partner showed us another layer of the character, especially at the end where he pulled Juliet into a hug and let her cry against him.
Actually, even though all of our beloved characters of Psych have their quirks (some more unusual than others), it would be a bit of a stretch to say that any of them would require a trip to the nearest mental institution. The obvious candidate for a one-way ticket to a mental ward seems to be Shawn Spencer, but the fact that he is only pretending to be psychic rules out schizophrenia. He has no delusions. He just has an inflated ego that requires daily strokings. The only character who could realistically find himself in a mental institution is Carlton Lassiter. Lassieface displays enough symptoms to be diagnosed as suffering from a personality disorder known as Narcissistic Personality Disorder (or NPD), according to the DSM-IV. 1) He has a grandiose sense of self-importance, 2) shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes, 3) is often envious of others or believes others are envious of him, 4) believes that he or she is "special" and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions), and finally 5) requires excessive admiration. I do love Lassiter though. He's probably my favorite character! Just because he's a narcissist doesn't mean he needs to go to the mental institution. However, Shawn should probably start calling him Lassissus.
