In the book Ned doesn't see Arya in the crowd. The man he sends is Yoren (not actually his man but the man from the Night's Watch which explains why he's still alive). In the book Yoren does the same thing he just doesn't do it at Ned's direction
Yeah I was a little disappointed in the title scene but I think it's just because I was expecting it to be the climax and for it to be heavier on the artistic side, and instead it was like a low key intro to the episode. I could see myself liking it more in the future. It was kind of rushed but it sort of made sense visually. All that stuff going through Arya's head could be happening as she's getting the hell out of there.
